Ordinance violation
SHAMOKIN — Michael Vernon Deitz, 28, of 228 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for working on his vehicle in the street at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday near his home, which is a violation of a city ordinance.
Deitz, who was conducting extensive mechanical work on his vehicle, was previously warned by police about doing the work on the street.
Loitering charge
SHAMOKIN — Charles Ammon, 29, of 145 S. Pearl St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Darwin Tobias III with loitering and prowling at night and criminal attempt to commit theft from a motor vehicle.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Ammon is charged with opening the door of a parked vehicle at Pine and Franklin streets at about 5 a.m. Friday.
Gas cans stolen
UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP — State police at Stonington reported someone cut a metal lock on a shed owned by Jack Jarrett, 69, of Sunbury, and removed a five-gallon metal gas can and a one-gallon plastic gas can having a total value of $55.
Police reported the theft occurred June 26 or June 27 along Mile Post Road.
Golf balls stolen
COOPER TOWNSHIP — A Danville man told State Police at Milton that someone stole approximately 3,000 golf balls.
The balls, taken from Rick Burkheimer’s business located about a half mile north of Ridge Road, are worth around $750, according to police reports. The sports-minded thief made off with the golf balls sometime between 8 a.m. on July 1 and 6 p.m. on July 15. Burkheimer realized the balls were missing during an inventory count.
DUI charge
ZERBE TOWNSHIP — Robert W. Erdman, 47, of Herndon, will be charged by Trooper Raymond O’Donnell with driving under the influence and a speeding violation relating to a vehicle stop on June 29 along Route 225 in this Northumberland County township.
