Graduates PSU - Kelly Marie McCarthy

UNIVERSITY PARK — Kelly Marie McCarthy graduated May 17 from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in physics, with a minor in mathematics.
While attending Penn State, McCarthy was actively involved in the Penn State Dance Marathon, or as it’s more popularly known, THON. She was also involved in Relay for Life and Society of Physics Students.
She was a member of a condensed matter research group and held a research internship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Nano/Bio Interface Center.
McCarthy will now be working as a member of the Teach for America corps for the next two years, teaching secondary physics in the School District of Philadelphia. Teach for America is a program geared toward improving education systems in impoverished areas across the country.
She later plans to pursue a post-graduate degree in physics.
A 2004 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School, McCarthy is a daughter of Kevin and Linda McCarthy, Shamokin.
