NORTHUMBERLAND — A woman remains in critical condition Sunday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after she was thrown from her 2008 Kawaski Ninja 250 on Route 61 near Tharptown on July 11.
Karen Carmen, 50, of Stone School Road, Northumberland, was attempting to pass a car on Brewery Curve on Route 61 at 9 p.m. Friday when her vehicle slid from beneath her. She was thrown from the bike, hit the guard rail and came to rest in a patch of grass. Carmen was flown to Geisinger Medical Center by life flight.
“Nothing has changed,” said a family member, who wished to remain anonymous. “She’s still in critical condition.”
Carmen, who suffered from a hole in her chest and abdomen, broken ribs and lacerations, was put into induced coma due to the amount of pain.
“She’s in and out of it,” the family member said.
As for the rest of the family, he said, “We’re holding up.”
