Free gas for blood donors

The American Red Cross will be offering gas for blood in an effort to combat the summer drop in donations.
The promotion started Monday and will end on Thursday, July 31, and during that span the American Red Cross-Northeastern Pennsylvania Blood Services Region will be holding 80 blood drives.
Anyone who shows up at a blood drive every day for the next 12 days will win a $100 gas card. Participants don’t have to donate blood all 12 days — in fact, you can only donate blood every 56 days. You just have to show up with the intent to donate, sit down, and have your health history taken.
To make an appointment or find a drive, call 1-800-GiveLife. To view drives and make appointments on line, visit www.nepagivelife.org and click on “Donate Blood.”
