Equipment stolen
COAL TOWNSHIP — Larry Deklinski, a board member of Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance, reported to Coal Township police someone removed a pressure transducer from the SCRA site located in Lower Excelsior between June 15 and July 21.
The transducer is used to measure water levels at the site and is valued at $800. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact police at 644-0333.
Dog runs at large
DOOLEYVILLE — Richard P. Zanella, 54, of 6 Back St., Dooleyville, was cited by Mount Carmel Township’s acting police chief, Lt. Brian Hollenbush, for allowing his pit bull to run at large at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. Police said Zanella was warned previous times about the same violation.
Escapes from cruiser
COAL TOWNSHIP — A Ranshaw man led police on a chase after escaping from a police cruiser Tuesday afternoon in the 500 Block of Main Street.
Daniel Albertson, 18, of 217 Third St., was taken into custody by Detective Jeffrey Brennan and Patrolman Terry Ketchem for an outstanding traffic warrant. He was subsequently handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser.
The officers then stopped in the 500 block of Main Street to serve another arrest warrant around 1:30 p.m. when Albertson escaped from the back of the locked vehicle, police said. He was apprehended several blocks away by Ketchem.
Albertson was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John E. Gembic III, Shamokin, and committed to Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $5,300 cash bail.
Public drunkenness
MOUNT CARMEL — Willie Schartiger, 20, of Paxinos, was cited by Patrolman Justin Stelma for public drunkenness and underage drinking. Police said he was observed to be visibly intoxicated while walking in the 100 block of South Oak Street at 3:16 a.m. Saturday.
A preliminary breath test found his blood alcohol content to be .26 percent, police said.
Patrolman David Donkochik assisted at the scene.
Retail theft
MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman Justin Stelma reported two juvenile males, 16 years old and 17 years old, respectively, were cited for retail theft for allegedly stealing a can of ravioli, sunflower seeds and a 20-ounce Mountain Dew from Turkey Hill Minit Market at 12:16 p.m. July 15.
Tractor stolen
COAL TOWNSHIP — Police reported a red Wheel Horse riding lawn mower was stolen from a residence at 1600 Maple Ave. between July 7 and Friday. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police at 644-0333.
