Shamokin Christian Women’s Club luncheon

PAXINOS — Shamokin Christian Women’s Club will host a luncheon Wednesday at Masser’s Banquet Hall.

The “Babes in Toyland” luncheon is open to children ages 6 and up, along with mothers, aunts, grandmothers and friends.

All are invited to bring a special doll to display, and are encouraged to share a story and memory the doll represents.


Anna and Rachel Bradigan, both of Sunbury, will provide musical entertainment. Janice Robinson, of Voorhees, N.J., will provide insight into “How to Have Victory Over Life’s Losses.”

The cost is $9.50 inclusive for adults and $5.50 for children ages 6 to 12.

Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are preferred. For reservations or cancellations, call Helen at 286-9575, Connie at 648-8882 or Joanna at 874-1045 by Monday. A free pre-school nursery is available by reservation only.

Executive secretary hired at United Way

SHAMOKIN — The Lower Anthracite Region United Way is pleased to welcome Jennifer R. Topolski to the new position of executive secretary.

Topolski will be serving as the principle resource to the board of directors and will be responsible for carrying out the programs, goals, objectives, policies and decisions formulated by the board of directors, including organizing the annual campaign and developing partnerships with provider agencies, other community organizations and businesses to further the mission of the United Way.

Topolski graduated from Central Pennsylvania College in 2001 with a degree in communications and currently resides in the Coal Township area.

SAT prep class at MCA this fall

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University will be offering SAT Preparation classes at Mount Carmel Area Junior-Senior High School this fall.

Classes will be held noon to 4 p.m. each Sunday from Sept. 7 to 28. Cost is $97, plus cost of book.
