20-year-old dies in crash
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP — A young Sunbury man was killed in a crash early this morning along Plum Creek Road just east of the intersection of Carroll Road in Rockefeller Township.

Police Blotter: Underage drinking


Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN — John Yadlosky, 19, of 1 E. Barton Ave., Elysburg, was cited by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Mark Costa for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and underage drinking following an incident at a South Market Street home at 12:08 a.m. Sunday.

Costa said Yadlosky was using obscene language and engaged in “tumultuous behavior” at the home, and that he admitted to drinking vodka.

Hit and run


COAL TOWNSHIP — Police continue to search for a driver who crashed a car into another car at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday along the 1500 block of Hemlock St.

Coal Township Police Deputy Chief Henry Schrader said a 1991 Chevrolet Corsica, owned by Timothy Yost, of 1537 Wabash St., Coal Township, which was parked behind his home on Hemlock, was struck in the rear by a Chevrolet Metro traveling east at a high rate of speed. The Corsica was pushed into a utility pole and had severe damage.

The operator of the Metro fled the scene before police could arrive.

The accident remains under the investigation.

2 cited for fighting

SHAMOKIN — Eugene B. O’Connell, 38, of 111 N. White St., Shenandoah, and Michael E. Umholtz, 36, of 437 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, were cited following a fight at the Tiffany Lounge at 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Shamokin City Police Patrolman Mark Costa cited both men for disorderly conduct. O’Connell was also cited for harassment for allegedly hitting Umholtz in the face several times while officers were present.

Public drunkenness

COAL TOWNSHIP — Township police charged Jerry Tikunoff, 48, of Kulpmont, with public drunkenness following an incident at Pizza Hut parking lot at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Patrolman Terry Ketchum said police were called to the scene for an intoxicated male trying to leave the area on a bicycle. They said they found Tikunoff lying in the middle of the parking lot. Police said he told them he was too intoxicated to walk.

He was taken to Shamokin Area Community Hospital by Area Services Ambulance, were he was treated for hand and leg injuries. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin.

Property damage

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP — Jesse Lee Swift, 18, of Old Reading Road, Paxinos, told state police at Stonington that at 10:21 p.m. Friday, someone damaged the mailbox located along the north side of the road at his home.

Simple assault

GILBERTON — John Blashock, 39, of Gilberton, was committed to Schuylkill County Prison following a domestic assault at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at 137 Main St.

State police at Frackville allege Blashock hit Connie Delowery, 43, of Gilberton, in the face, causing injury to her left eye and her nose, during a domestic dispute.

Police took Blashock into custody pursuant to the Domestic Violence Act, He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Bernadette J. Nahas, Frackville.

Decorations stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating the theft of outdoor decorations and fixtures from 1101 W. Nelson St. that occurred between Tuesday, Aug. 5, and Friday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Bad check

DORNSIFE — Bryan Barrick, 30, of 242 Juniata Parkway E, Newport, was charged by state police at Stonington with writing a bad check after allegedly giving a check for $1,000 to Troy’s Auto Sales in Little Mahanoy Township on May 29.

Found dog

COAL TOWNSHIP — Coal Township Police report that a small black and brown dog with a light blue collar was found in the 1700 block of Tioga Street and turned into police. The owner can claim the dog by contacting the Northumberland County Dog Warden at 286-0424.
