DUI charges filed
COAL TOWNSHIP — Mary Ann Bramhall, 22, of Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance and one count of drivers required to be licensed stemming from an incident at 5:27 a.m. July 13.
Police said she was found inside her 1995 Ford Explorer, which had run out of gas in the southbound lane of Trevorton Road. According to police, Bramhall’s blood alcohol level was .168 percent at the time, exceeding the legal limit of .08 percent.
Charges were filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin.
Disorderly conduct
MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman Justin Stelma cited Alan Mazur, 35, of 26 West Ave., Mount Carmel, with disorderly conduct after several members of the Mount Carmel Community Watch program allegedly observed him urinating in the entryway of Black Diamond Video at 2:10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.
Stelma was assisted by Cpl. Christopher Buhay.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP — Patrolman Jason Adams charged Sharon Louise Sayre, 32, of Paxinos, with retail theft for allegedly attempting to steal $287.65 in merchandise from Wal-Mart Supercenter, Route 61, at 3:31 p.m. Monday.
Disorderly conduct
MOUNT CARMEL — Walter Watkins, 20, of 216 S. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, and Matthew Miller, 19, of 1014 Ash St., Kulpmont, were cited by Cpl. Christopher Buhay for disorderly conduct for an incident at 2:10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.
Police said the two removed traffic cones and other items from Oak Street, which were found at the rear of a residence in the 100 block of South Apple Street. Watkins and Miller proceeded to throw the items all over the roadway and onto other people’s property, police alleged.
One-vehicle crash
UPPER MAHANTONGO TOWNSHIP — No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:01 a.m. Saturday along Mill Road here, state police at Stonington reported.
Police said John R. Rothermel, 21, of Pitman, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado south on Mill Road and was attempting to turn right onto Route 4016 when he exited the west berm near Route 4016, struck a stop sign and drove through a private yard, causing damage. Police alleged he then drove away from the scene without making proper notifications to property owners.
The crash was discovered by state police during the course of an ongoing investigation into the same vehicle stemming from a separate incident in Northumberland County which spilled into Schuylkill County.
Rothermel and his passenger, Adam Schwartz, 24, of Hegins were not injured in the crash. Police are expected to file several violations against Rothermel, including careless driving and failing to make the proper notifications to property owners.
Juvenile charged
MOUNT CARMEL — A 17-year-old borough male will face charges for a string of burglaries from a South Poplar Street garage in July and August.
Thomas Brokenshire, 38, of South Poplar Street, reported to police that he detained the youth inside his garage at 1:07 a.m. Thursday after the teen allegedly broke in.
Police reported the teen allegedly broke into the garage on three other occasions, making off with an Apple iPod, a change bank and numerous cans of beer.
Public drunkenness
MOUNT CARMEL — Sheri Shurock, 41, of North Franklin Street, Shamokin, was cited for public drunkenness by Patrolman Kevin Katch following an incident in the 500 block of West Avenue at 2 a.m. Saturday.
Police were dispatched to the scene for an intoxicated female trying to enter vehicles. On arrival, Shurock allegedly staggered across the street and walked into the door of the police cruiser. Police claimed Shurock smelled of alcohol, staggered when she walked and thought that she was in Shamokin.
Assisting Katch at the scene was Sgt. Todd Owens and Patrolman William Adamski.
