Service Electric Cablevision this year has added 16 cable networks to its high-definition (HD) line-up.
“We are adding the best rated high-definition channels as they become available,” said Donald Brandt, director of Programming and Program Marketing for Service Electric. “Our goal is to provide the most popular national networks in high-definition, and that’s what we will continue to deliver on an ongoing basis.”
In 2008, 16 new HD channels have been added to the HD package at no additional cost.
The newest high-definition channels include: Disney Channel HD, ABC Family Channel HD, Planet Green HD and Golf/Versus HD. In May, Service Electric added A&E HD, History HD, CNN HD, Weather HD, NHL HD, FX HD, Speed HD and Hallmark Movie HD; and in January added Discovery HD, Animal Planet HD, The Learning Channel (TLC) HD and Discovery Science HD. There are even more channels on the way, with FOX News HD scheduled to debut this September.
“We are packing our high-definition line-up with the most-watched national networks on television,” Brandt said, “and a lot more are on the way. Our viewers know the value of quality programming.”
This year Service Electric is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The local cable provider pioneered cable TV technology here in 1948, staking its claim as the first cable company in America. The company currently delivers digital cable, HDTV, On Demand, DVR, high-speed Internet and digital phone services to a growing network of 84,000 subscribers in Birdsboro, Hazleton and Sunbury.
