New expo will serve veterans

SELINSGROVE — The inaugural SUN Area Veterans Benefits Expo will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631.

The expo will bring together local, state and federal agencies that offer services to veterans and their families. Representatives from the state of Pennsylvania Veterans Affairs Office will be on hand to talk to veterans and family members about VA benefits and eligibility requirements. Other agencies will be available to provide information as well.

Scheduled to appear is the Freightliner “Ride of Pride” truck honoring veterans, POWs and MIAs. Manufactured at the Freightliner heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant in Cleveland, N.C., the fully customized truck features designs of the American flag, a bald eagle, the POW-MIA emblem and symbols from each military division, decaled over the orange cab.

The event is for veterans of all ages and for anyone who served in any military branch, including the National Guard and the Reserves. It is also for veterans’ spouses and children.
