White Mass celebrated next week
DANVILLE — A White Mass for health-care workers will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, by the Most Rev. Kevin C. Rhoades, bishop of Harrisburg, at St. Joseph Church. Patterned after the Red Mass for lawyers and the Blue Mass for law enforcement personnel, the White Mass will honor health-care professionals. The name is taken from the white lab coat frequently worn by medical personnel.
Also, the color white’s purity is a symbol of the peace, well-being and healing sought in patient treatment. Bishop Rhoades will preach the homily . After the liturgy, a reception will he held during which free child care will be available on the second floor of the building, with snacks and entertainment available for children.
The collection at Mass will be donated to Camp Victory for ill children. Please contact the Rev. William Weary with further questions at 275-2512.
