Fairview Fire names new officers; still operating

COAL TOWNSHIP — Fairview Fire Company is still operating, and is “working on a plan to keep our building so we can keep serving our community for more years to come,” according to a statement issued this week by the organization.
After restructuring, the fire company’s new officers include President Mark Leiby, Vice President David Kile, Trustees Myron Wagner and Stephen Lukoskie.
Several positions are still open. Nominations of officers will be held the last Monday in October.
Basic Life Support ambulance service is currently on hold and all calls are being directed to Area Services, the statement said.
The bar is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to ?, and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to? Every Thursday is wing night.
A Halloween dance will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, with a $3 cover charge and music by D.J. Style.
“We are looking for new members, whether it be firefighters or social members. Also, any member that left for any reason, come back home,” the release states.
Two of Fairview Fire Company’s ambulances were recently repossessed, and the building is tentatively listed for a Nov. 18 sheriff’s sale. A criminal investigation is being conducted by Coal Township police into the potential misuse of funds.
Court documents show Fairview Fire and Ambulance Company owes Susquehanna Bank in Sunbury $85,194.77 on a foreclosed loan that was taken out in April 2006. An additional foreclosed loan, initially taken out in February 2007 for the amount of $69,917.33, is also outstanding. Both mortgages will also include interest accrued since January 2008.
In addition, on Aug. 1 a default judgement against Fairview awarded $15,947.50 to First Federal Leasing, Philadelphia.
Four federal IRS tax liens were placed on Fairview in recent months, according to the Northumberland County Prothonotary’s Office. The first lien was filed on Aug. 27, 2007, in the amount of $28,141.87; the second on Dec. 31, 2007, in the amount of $3,060; the third on May 14, 2008, for $29,889.55, and the last on Aug. 1, 2008, for $15,162.07.

" Correct me if i am wrong but wasnt it Vinny Clausi that backed this company when he got elected as well as slick talk his way to the board and tell them that this company would not have any more promblems, I find it appaling that Vinny hid behind this company knowing that this company nor its member could not be trusted. I believe that Vinny owes the tax payers and area services an answer as to why peoples lives were put in danger and yes I do know this for a fact as a friend of mine was having a heart attack in coal township and this company failed to respond. I think Vinny is just a responsable as this company is and should be held respnsable for all the promblems that is happening now. Like tax evasion, loan payment failure, having two ambulances repossessed. and the investiagation going on right now about misuse of funds. You promised the people that this ambulance service would be active and respond, You lied Vinny. imagine that Rob Figard-Coal Township "
