Victoria M. Avellino was recently sworn in as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar

KULPMONT — Victoria M. Avellino was recently sworn in as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar by the Honorable Ronald D. Castille, chief justice of the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court. She is now serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Ronald E. Vican, president judge of Monroe County.

Avellino graduated in 2007 from Widener University School of Law, Harrisburg. During her time at Widener, she worked at the Harrisburg Civil Law Clinic, where she was promoted to clinic leader. As part of her responsibilities at the clinic she represented clients under the supervision of an attorney, including in unemployment compensation hearings and divorce proceedings. She also worked as a summer intern for the Honorable Richard C. Lewis, president judge of Dauphin County.

Avellino is a 2003 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a degree in human development and family studies. She attained dean’s list status for six consecutive semesters, several with a 4.0 average. In her last semester, she completed an internship (under an attorney) at Kids Voice, a non-profit organization in Pittsburgh. Attorneys at Kids Voice represent more than 5,000 abused and neglected children in Allegheny County in dependency hearings. During her internship, Avellino conducted home visits and worked closely with a supervising attorney to prepare cases for the courts.

A 1999 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, Avellino is a daughter of Peter Jr. and Nora Avellino of Kulpmont, and a granddaughter of Agnes (Shlikas) Avellino of Kulpmont and the late Peter Avellino Sr., and of Louise (Rataczak) Searfoss of Jim Thorpe and the late John Searfoss.
