Catholic women
MOUNT CARMEL — Our Lady’s Council of Catholic Women held its monthly meeting Oct. 2 in the parish hall.
President Theresa Connie conducted the meeting. The meeting began with the council prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes were read and Debbie Gownley gave the treasurer’s report.
Connie thanked all members for their help with the 25th and 50th anniversary celebration that was held Sept. 28, in the parish hall. Special thanks were given to Frances Sebastian who made all the centerpieces for the occasion. In addition to a delicious meal, each couple received a gold or silver centerpiece as a gift.
Dates were given for upcoming events:
• Oct. 26 — White Ribbon against Pornography Day.
• Oct. 28 — Appreciation Dinner at Lazarski’s.
• Nov. 16 — Deanery meeting at Our Lady of Hope.
President Mary Bridy gave the Rosary Altar Society report. The refreshment committee for the next meeting will be Mary Ruffing and Jean Kovaleski.
Menko moved to make a motion the meeting be adjourned and Jean Kovaleski seconded the motion. The meeting was closed with prayers for the active, sick and deceased members.
