BLOOMSBURG — As part of Saturday’s Military Appreciation Day by Bloomsburg University at Redman Stadium, Bloomsburg High School graduate Jon Miller was honored for his service to the United States Marine Corps (USMC) while serving as an honorary co-captain for the Huskies prior to their 42-23 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division victory over East Stroudsburg.
Miller is a combat veteran who served in Iraq, where he was wounded in action.
Also taking part in the coin toss with Bloomsburg co-captains Kyle Ream and Jon Ochs was Capt. Robert Johnessee, a three-tour veteran of Iraq currently serving as a USMC recruiter in Wilkes-Barre.
As part of the day’s activities, all past and current military personnel and their families attending the game were given complimentary admission.
In addition, dry goods and snacks such as cookies, crackers, dry soup and cereal; toiletries such as shampoo, soap, tooth paste, sun block and tissues; as well as phone cards, frisbees, board games and DVD movies were collected to be sent overseas.
A complete list of items that are needed and where they can be sent is available on the Internet at www.give2thetroops.org.
