Student caller

SELINSGROVE — Amy Markowski, of Saint Clair, is a caller for the Susquehanna University student calling program.

For more than 20 years, the program has raised funds for the university. There are currently 27 students participating in the program, which is held for 10 weeks in the fall and six weeks in the spring.

The funds raised are then used to benefit the university in a variety of ways, including scholarships, laboratory equipment, research and athletics.

In addition to contacting the parents and alumni, Markowski’s responsibilities include updating the database where their information is kept to ensure that it is correct, as well as keeping them abreast of campus happenings.

Markowski, a senior finance major, is a 2005 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School. She is a daughter of Robert and Margaret Ficca, Mount Carmel.
