Open house set for Thursday

MANDATA — The Line Mountain Junior-Senior High School open house will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. All students and parents are encouraged to attend to meet teachers and staff. There will be a book fair, as well as spirit items and clothing available from the Football Boosters.

Library expresses thanks

MOUNT CARMEL — Officials of Mount Carmel Area Public Library extended their gratitude to Joseph Bressi of Bressi and Martin Inc. for investing back into the communities it serves by holding the First Benefit Golf Tournament benefiting area public libraries. A special thank you to all the sponsors of the tournament and a very, very special thanks to the golfers that braved the terrible weather with its torrential rains.


County Drug and Alcohol Board to meet

SUNBURY — The Northumberland County Drug and Alcohol Program Advisory Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Human Services Building, 217 N. Center St. There will be a presentation of the Central Intake, an SCA Annual Report and an analysis of the past year’s goals, objectives and training program. Christ Evangelical to hold bazaar Saturday

LAVELLE — Christ Evangelical Congregational Church will hold its church bazaar from 9 a.m. to sellout on Saturday at the church on Main Street (near Turkey Hill). Food available includes hot dogs, barbecue, soups, pierogies and homemade baked goods. Eat in or take out. There will be a speciality knife sale, and the church’s famous dishcloths will be on sale. Rain or shine.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

SAINT CLAIR — Doris Chizmar’s Hair Replacement Center, Saint Clair, will be having a special day for Breast Cancer Awareness Month from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. A fuschia pink hair swatch extension strand can be placed in your hair for $10. For every swatch purchased, $5 will be donated toward breast cancer awareness.
