PUBLIC NOTICE Pursuant to the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act, notice is hereby given that Gilberton Coal Company, 10 Gilberton Road, Gilberton PA 17934, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for renewing its existing surface mine permit and related General NPDES GP-104 Permit. The current permit, No. 49950202, was issued on October 9, 1997 and will expire on October 9, 2017. This application includes a request to change the Postmining Land Use from Forestland to Unmanaged Natural Habitat. The receiving stream for the permit area is the Shamokin Creek watershed. The operation is located in Mount Carmel Township, Northumberland County, and is known as the Reliance Bank Operation. The permit area is situated on the south side of State Route 2038, approximately 0.25 miles south of the Village of Connersville. The permit area is accessed by a private access road extending south from the state highway, approximately 0.4 miles west of Connersville. The Mount Carmel, Pa., U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute topographic map contains the area described. A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Pottsville District Office, 5 West Laurel Boulevard, Pottsville, PA. Written comments, objections, or a request for a public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection, Pottsville District Office, 5 West Laurel Boulevard, Pottsville, PA, 17901, no later than June 23, 2017, and must include the person's name, address, telephone number and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s). - Ad Link

PUBLIC NOTICE The Coal Township Board of Commissioners gives notice of its intent to consider proposed Ordinance No. 528 at its monthly meeting of June 1, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Coal Township Municipal Building, 805 W. Lynn Street, Coal Township. This proposed ordinance would amend its coverage and better define acceptable burning materials allowed in outdoor backyard burning pits and indoor wood burners and fireplaces. This proposed ordinance is available for inspection at the Coal Township Municipal Building, weekdays between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
