	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Harassment</p><p>MOUNT CARMEL - Paul A. Barilla, 46, of 319 N. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was cited for harassment by Patrolman Dave Donkochik after allegedly choking his girlfriend, Charla Bensigner, during a domestic dispute at his residence at approximately 6 p.m. Jan. 8.</p><p>Drug charges</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Patrick Henz, 29, of 121 W. Montgomery St., Shamokin, was arraigned at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of Xanax, possession of a small amount of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy.</p><p>Henz was charged by Cpl. John Brown in connection with a Nov. 21 incident in the parking lot at Weis Markets.</p><p>Police said Henz possessed marijuana packaged for sale, eight Xanax pills in a plastic wrapper, cocaine, several pipes and a large bong, and conspired with others to possess and deliver the controlled substances.</p><p>One-car crash</p><p>RUSH TOWNSHIP - A Danvile woman suffered an injury following a one-vehicle crash on Route 54 near Hower Road at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday.</p><p>State police at Stonington report a 1997 Ford Escort, driven by Andrea N. Deitz, 21, of Danville, was traveling west on Route 54 in the area of "The Narrows" when Deitz left the roadway and grazed a guard rail. The Escort then traveled across the east lane of Route 54 and struck an embankment.</p><p>Deitz suffered moderate injuries in the crash and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment. Police said she would be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.</p><p>Burglary charges</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Patrolman William Miner has charged Jeffrey R. Adams Jr., 20, of Shamokin, with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property in connection with a Nov. 11 incident at 115 N. Second St.</p><p>Police reported Adams entered the residence of Thomas McDonald and Stella Sheasley at 5 a.m. and stole six bottles of prescription medicine including ratidine, loretadine, seraquil, bopinrole, amitriptyline and hydrocodone.</p><p>Adams was arraigned at 11 a.m. Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $25,000 bail.</p><p>One-car crash</p><p>THARPTOWN - Joann E. Procopio, 69, of 932 Pine St., Kulpmont, suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon at the intersection of Route 61 and Hospital Road.</p><p>Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky said Procopio was driving south on Route 61 at 12:30 p.m. when she was unable to stop her vehicle at a red light. Police said Procopio's vehicle veered off the right side of the highway and traveled along an embankment before coming to a stop.</p><p>The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.</p><p>Procopio was transported to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she underwent emergency room treatment before being released.</p><p>Procopio was cited for careless driving.</p><p>Public drunkenness</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Mark E. Lowry, 25, of 1345 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for public drunkenness involving an incident at 2:14 a.m. Saturday at Dunkin' Donuts at Sunbury and Market streets.</p><p>Police reported Lowry, who needed assistance to walk, annoyed two patrons at the business and refused to adhere to police commands. He was released to the custody of his sister.</p><p>Harassment</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Daniel W. Phelps Jr., 26, of 912 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for harassment for allegedly punching Josh Brosious, 18, of 75 Center St., Tharptown, at Phelps' residence shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday.</p><p>Two cited</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Lori Moore, 49, of 714 N. Cherry St., Shamokin, and Christopher Ditzel, 28, of Danielsville, were cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for harassment relating to a disturbance at 7:10 p.m. Friday at 709 N. Cherry St.</p><p>Moore is accused of smashing a cardboard box into Ditzel's face. Ditzel is accused of shoving Moore in a violent manner.</p><p>DUI</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Matthew S. Hunter, 31, of 1256 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving on the wrong side of the road and careless driving.</p><p>The charges relate to a Jan. 7 vehicle stop at Lincoln and Liberty streets.</p><p>Police said Hunter had a blood-alcohol content of .139 percent.</p><p>Stalking</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Raymond Siko II has charged Peter Rebuck Jr., 38, of 170 E. Dewart St., Apt. 206, with two counts of stalking, indecent assault, two counts of harassment and disorderly conduct relating to a Jan. 30 incident at a home on West Walnut Street.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Rebuck is accused of stalking a woman, grabbing the victim in an indecent manner and making a lewd gesture at the victim's residence.</p><p>Drug charges</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Mark A. Getz Jr., 18, of 200 S. Coal St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an incident that occurred in the 100 block of South Coal Street shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Contraband in jail</p><p>FRACKVILLE - State police charged Kristen Lynn LaSalle, 25, of West Pittston, with drug violations after an incident at the State Correctional Institute Mahanoy at 11 a.m. Saturday.</p><p>Police say that LaSalle entered the prison with prescription medication concealed on her person, with the intent to deliver it to an inmate. Once inside the visiting area, LaSalle was confronted by prison personnel and admitted to the concealment and handed them over to the prison staff.</p><p>A preliminary hearing was held before Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, and LaSalle was released on her own recognizance. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, of Shenandoah.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Woman injured</p><p>LEWIS TOWNSHIP - Amanda L. Hitchcock, 43, of Watsontown, suffered a minor injury in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday night on Route 658 (Warrior Run Boulevard) in this Northumberland County township.</p><p>State police at Milton reported Hitchcock was driving a 2001 Saturn at 9:10 p.m. when she lost control of her car while negotiating a left curve. The auto then traveled into a field on the south side of the road.</p><p>Hitchcock, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.</p><p>Theft charges</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Scott Weaver has charged Mark Getz Jr., 18, of 200 S. Coal St., Shamokin, with theft from a motor vehicle, loitering and prowling at night, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking and criminal conspiracy.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Getz is accused of stealing numerous items from vehicles parked in the 500 block of East Dewart Street at 2 a.m. Jan. 12. The items included iPods, car stereo equipment, Sirius satellite radios, compact discs, flashlights, cigarettes, lighters and a cell phone.</p><p>Stevie Nicole Cokosky, 20, of 669 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, a co-defendant in the case, was previously charged by Weaver with the same offenses.</p><p>Drug charges</p><p>MOUNT CARMEL - Ephraim Thomas Koshinski, 21, and Lina Marielle Berger, 27, both of Easton, were charged by Sgt. Todd Owens and Patrolman Matthew Dillman with various drug-related offenses involving a March 28 incident at the intersection of Routes 61 and 54 in Mount Carmel Township.</p><p>Berger is charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, criminal conspiracy, criminal use of a communication facility, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and possession of heroin.</p><p>Koshinski is charged with two counts of criminal conspiracy.</p><p>Owens and Dillman are members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Drug charges</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Robert M. Rickert II, 21, of 641 S. Market St., Shamokin, has been charged by Cpl. John Brown with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession with intent to deliver Xanax, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy relating to a Nov. 21 incident in the parking lot at Weis Markets.</p><p>Police reported Rickert possessed marijuana packaged for sale, eight Xanax pills in a plastic wrapper, a small amount of cocaine, several pipes and a large bong. He also is accused of conspiring with another person to possess and deliver controlled substances.</p><p>Rickert was arraigned at 10:45 a.m. Thursday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.</p><p>Cocaine possession</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Jarred S. Derck, 28, of 1034 W. Mahanoy St., Trevorton, was charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a Nov. 15 incident at 72 Raspberry Hill.</p><p>Police said Derck possessed a small plastic bag containing cocaine.</p><p>DUI</p><p>STONINGTON - Trooper David Townsend of state police at Stonington has charged James M. Lally Jr., 56, of Lost Creek, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to drive in a single lane, careless driving and reckless driving.</p><p>The charges relate to a Jan. 6 traffic stop on Route 61 near the state police barracks.</p><p>Police reported Lally was under the influence of Xanax and oxycodone.</p><p>Theft charges</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Patrolman William Zalinski has charged Frank Nahodil, 37, of 35 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, and Beverly Rosenberger, 32, of 1225 Chemung St., Coal Township, with theft, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Nahodil and Rosenberger are accused of stealing an access card owned by Robert Erb from Erb's home at 256 S. Pearl St. on Jan. 19 and using the card to obtain $201.78 at Weis Markets.</p><p>ATM card stolen</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Morris A. Combs, 42, of 680 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with theft and receiving stolen property.</p><p>Police reported Combs stole an ATM bank card from his live-in girlfriend, Dalee Pennell, on Dec. 29 and used the card to obtain $763.86.</p><p>Drug offenses</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Raymond Siko II has charged Robert Malia, 43, of Ashland, and Melissa Jo Ritzman, 28, of Coal Township, with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of bath salts relating to a disturbance at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 4 W. Independence St., Apt. 5.</p><p>Malia also was charged with harassment.</p><p>Malia and Ritzman are charged with possessing bath salts, black glass containers with clear lids containing white powder, a pill holder, an Altoids metal container containing 10 plastic tubes with lids, tourniquets, a blue bag with multiple zipper locks, White Surge invigorating massage powder, insulin syringes, small plastic bottles, tweezers, cotton balls and an assortment of other paraphernalia.</p><p>Malia also is accused of threatening to punch Adele Moore in the face.</p>]]></description>

Wallace, 30, of Kulpmont, was cited by state police at Stonington for criminal mischief after an incident at 9 p.m. at 1337 Scott St.</p><p>Police say Wallace damaged a cell phone owned by Kaitlyn Else, 23, of Kulpmont, during a verbal confrontation.</p><p>Harassment</p><p>LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Carol A. Snyder, 44, of 1427 SR 147, Apt. 2, Dalmatia, was charged with harassment by state police at Stonington following an incident at her residence at 5:45 a.m. Sunday when she allegedly slapped a 51-year-old Dalmatia male on the face.</p><p>The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, of Sunbury.</p><p>Brush fire</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - Firefighters were kept busy fighting a large brush fire Tuesday night. Firefighters took five hours to extinguish the blaze near the Third Patch in Coal Township. The fire was reported at midnight by a resident who saw smoke while walking on Stetler Drive. Several acres and a large number of pallets burned in the fire.</p><p>Burglary</p><p>MAYBERRY TOWNSHIP - Mary L. Lenig, of Jennies Lane, Catawissa, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, someone entered her cottage at Roaring Creek Road, Mayberry Township and took an Emerson CD player, a Dirt Devil vacuum, several CDs and a digital wall clock.</p><p>Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Trooper Daniel J. 	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Two-car crash</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Sunday night at the intersection of Arch and Oak streets.</p><p>Patrolman Joshua Wynn reported Alyssa Stutzman, 24, of Shamokin, was driving a 1997 Dodge truck east on Arch Street at 6:02 p.m. when her vehicle struck a 1998 Pontiac driven south on Oak Street by Jeffrey Smith, 23, of Coal Township, as Smith was crossing the intersection.</p><p>Both vehicles were driven from the scene.</p><p>Stutzman will be cited for a stop sign violation, police said.</p><p>Burglary charges</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - James P. Wehr, 48, of 953 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Joshua Wynn with felony offenses of burglary and criminal trespass, and misdemeanors of theft and receiving stolen property relating to an incident Saturday afternoon at Anthracite Provision Company, 510 S. Pearl St.</p><p>Police reported Wehr, who supplies paper products to the business, entered the meat market at about 12:15 p.m. and stole $1,137 from an office at the business.</p><p>Wehr was arraigned at 1 a.m. Sunday by on-call Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.</p><p>Waives hearing</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Nina Niglio, 21, of 20 Circle View Drive, Elysburg, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a turning violation relating to a Nov. 6 traffic stop on Market Street near Water Street.</p><p>The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II.</p><p>Niglio was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for plea court March 26 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time she can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Two detained</p><p>SUNBURY - State police at Stonington report that two individuals were detained by immigration officials following a traffic stop on Raspberry Avenue in Sunbury at 11:39 p.m. Friday.</p><p>Police say three individuals were encountered during a traffic stop but could not provide acceptable evidence of their right to be in the country. Officials from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) came to the station and took Israel Cruz, 27, of Mexico, and Marco Servellon, 26, of Honduras, into custody.</p><p>A third individual, a 31-year-old male from Honduras, was determined not to be a threat to public safety or national security, and was released.</p><p>One-car crash</p><p>MANDATA - A Herndon man escaped injury following a one-vehicle crash on Mandata Road, one mile north of Route 225 at 1:30 a.m. Saturday.</p><p>State police at Stonington report a 2008 silver Nissan Altima, driven by Mark R. Wendt, 32, of 507 Mandata Road, Herndon, was traveling on Mandata Road, when he swerved to avoid a deer and drove over an embankment, according to police. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and police report the accident is under investigation.</p><p>Underage drinking</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Samuel J. Nolter, 20, of 200 E. Sunbury St., Apt. 3, Shamokin, was cited for underage consumption by state police at Stonington. Nolter was found to be a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic stop at Liberty and Commerce streets, Shamokin, at 9:32 p.m. Saturday.</p><p>Retail theft</p><p>MONROE TOWNSHIP - Joseph Staskiel, 19, of Kulpmont, and Bryanna Dusendschine, 18, of Mount Carmel, were charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft by state police at Selinsgrove, following an incident at 4:45 p.m. Sunday when they attempted to leave the Kohl's Department Store, Monroe Township, at 4:45 p.m. Sunday with $99 worth of merchandise.</p><p>Criminal mischief</p><p>BARRY TOWNSHIP - Leroy J. Berner, of Ashland, reported to state police at Schuylkill Haven someone arrived at his home at 1351 Deep Creek Road, pulled out his mailbox and placed in on the road, where it was run over by a unknown vehicle. The incident occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday.</p><p>Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact state police at 593-2000.</p><p>Retail theft</p><p>MONROE TOWNSHIP - Tionie Shambach, 18, of Sunbury, and Nichole Zechman, 19, of Selinsgrove, were charged with retail theft at Walmart by state police at Selinsgrove, following an incident at 6:30 p.m. Saturday when Shambach selected some diet pills and gave them to Zechman to conceal in her pocket, and then attempted to leave the store without paying for them. The value of the pills was $27.88.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John H. Reed of Selinsgrove.</p><p>DUI enforcement</p><p>POTTSVILLE - The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group and the Coal Township Police Department have announced roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints will be conducted from Feb. 3 to Feb. 11 on Routes 61, 225, 125, 54, 487, 901 and 147 or other connecting roadways to municipalities. Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by dialing 911. To report underage drinking, call 1-888-under-21.</p><p>The roving patrols and checkpoints are funded through PennDOT and the National Highway Safety Administration.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Disorderly conduct</p><p>LEWISBURG - A 33-year-old Evangelical Community Hospital patient was charged with disorderly conduct for smearing feces on his hospital bed rails at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 28, according to state police at Milton.</p><p>Trooper Garrett R. Marvich reported that Pedro Vargas Cruz, of Milton, created a hazardous or physically offensive condition which served no legitimate purpose at the hospital by becoming unruly and failing to comply with hospital staff orders.</p><p>Armed robbery</p><p>WEST BUFFALO TOWNSHIP - A Union County store at 8750 Buffalo Road was robbed by armed gunmen Saturday night, according to state police at Milton.</p><p>Trooper James Nizinski reported that two Forest Hills Store employees Nichole Ann Mullany, 31, of Lewisburg, and Courtney Marie Shirk, 21, of Mifflinburg, stepped outside a side door at 7:15 p.m. and were forced back inside at gunpoint by a white male in his 30s wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a 3/4 length blue jacket while another unknown actor stayed outside guarding the side door.</p><p>The first man pointed a black semi automatic pistol at the women, ordered them to open the cash register and demanded money, police said.</p><p>Mullany was unable to open it, but presented the gunman with a bank bag. 	        <description><![CDATA[<p>MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court on Monday, March 5 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.</p><p>- Tabatha T. Eltringham, 27, of 519 N. Coal St., Shamokin, waived two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and charges of criminal conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance.</p><p>Eltringham was charged by Sgt. Todd Owens and Patrolman Matthew Dillman of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force and Mount Carmel Borough Police. She was one of the 100 individuals arrested during a Nov. 15 drug roundup.</p><p>- Dylan J. Scarlett, 20, of 1104 W. Pine Street, Coal Township, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to six months probation and ordered to pay a $500 fine plus court costs by Jones.</p><p>Scarlett was charged by Patrolman Cade Holden of the Kulpmont Borough Police following an Aug. 12 incident at Powerking Motorsports in Kulpmont,</p><p>Charges of possession of a controlled substance, underage drinking and disorderly conduct were withdrawn in the case.</p><p>- Dustin C. Congello, 26, of 344 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas, waived charges of possession of an offensive weapon and disorderly conduct during his hearing.</p><p>Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush filed the charges following an Oct. 11 incident in the 300 block of East Columbia Avenue, Atlas.</p><p>- A charge of selling or furnishing alcohol to a minor was waived to court by Lynn M. Sessions, 50, of 332 S. Seventh St., Shamokin.</p><p>Sessions was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell following an incident at the Atlas Fire Company on Nov. 18.</p><p>- Two counts of driving under the influence, and a charge of selling or furnishing liquor to a minor were waived to court by Allen M. Cole, 22, of 302 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin.</p><p>Cole was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell following an incident at the Marion Heights Cemetery on Nov. 19.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Information sought</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - Police are looking for information on a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the McDonald's restaurant between 10 and 11 p.m. on Dec. 29.</p><p>Police say a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was hit while parked in the lot. The suspect vehicle is possibly a white Dodge truck, model year between 1994 and 2002. The truck should have had moderate front-end damage and may have been repaired at a local garage or body shop.</p><p>Anyone with information about the vehicle or its owner should contact Coal Township Police at 644-0333.</p><p>Drug paraphernalia</p><p>KULPMONT - Brian W. Wolfe, 29, of 837 Chestnut St., Apt. 3, Kulpmont, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following an investigation at his residence at 7:17 p.m. Jan. 9.</p><p>Kulpmont Police Patrolman Cade Holden reported in court documents that he met with county adult probation officers at Wolfe's residence after a search by the officer uncovered a glass pipe, with burnt marijuana residue inside of it, in his bedroom.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.</p><p>DUI charges filed</p><p>MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Police charged Joseph F. Temple, 47, of 132 Center St., Ashland, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and also cited him for failure to drive on roads laned for traffic and careless driving as a result of a April 9 traffic stop on an access road to the Mid-Valley Mountain.</p><p>Township Police Officer Daniel J. Politza reported in court documents that Temple was observed traveling in the wrong lane of travel for several blocks. Following a vehicle stop, Temple failed field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test, and was taken into custody. A blood-alcohol test done at Shamokin Area Community Hospital showed his level to be .168 percent.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel. Temple was placed in Northumberland County Prison at the time on a probation detainer. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.</p><p>Timber theft</p><p>SNYDERTOWN - State police charged James A. Neitz, 31, of 3430 Snydertown Road, Sunbury, with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and two counts of criminal trespass in connection with the theft of timber from a property along Camp Road, Snydertown, in February 2011.</p><p>Trooper Kirk Renn of the Stonington barracks reported in court documents that Neitz was involved in taking two dump truck loads of timber from a posted property owned by Charles Dalpiaz. The timber had been cut down by a lumber crew. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III of Shamokin.</p><p>PFA violation</p><p>MOUNT CARMEL - Daniel J. Joraskie, 52, of 207 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, was charged with indirect criminal contempt following a violation of a protection from abuse order on Dec. 6.</p><p>Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Jason Drumheller filed the charges after Joraskie allegedly called the victim, Heather Krah, seven times and sent her a text message. Krah has an order prohibiting him from having any contact with her, police said.</p><p>Joraskie was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Friday in Northumberland County Court.</p><p>One-vehicle crash</p><p>ATLAS - A Mount Carmel woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday on Route 61 in Atlas.</p><p>Mount Carmel Township Police report a vehicle, driven by Chelsea Davenport, 22, of Mount Carmel, was traveling north on Route 61, near the area of Rose's Villa, when she lost control of it, crashing broadside into an embankment, several trees and a ditch on the right side of the road. </p><p>The vehicle had to be towed from the scene, and Davenport was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was treated and released. Police say the accident is under investigation.</p><p>Statutory assault</p><p>MOUNT CARMEL - Borough Police Cpl. Christopher Buhay charged Cody A. Weikel, 25, of 411 W. Market St., Mahanoy City, with two counts each of statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors as a result of incidents between Nov. 20 and Dec. 1</p><p>According to a police affidavit, Weikel had consensual sexual relations with two 14-year-old girls while living at a Mount Carmel residence. </p><p>He was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $50,000 bail, A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday before Jones.</p><p>Fleeing from police</p><p>ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Joshua Isaac Spotts, 20, of 1084 Hickory Road, Dalmatia, faces a number of charges, including fleeing from a police officer following a chase on Jan. 7 on State Routes 2044 and Route 125 in Zerbe Township.</p><p>Pennsylvania State Police Trooper William Gangloff reported in court documents that while on patrol on Route 2044, he observed Spotts' vehicle did not have functioning tail lights. The trooper attempted to pull him over, but Spotts did not stop, continuing on Route 2044 to Route 125 for 12.1 miles. Spotts' vehicle stayed on that road until the vehicle crashed, and Spotts and a passenger fled before police arrived at the vehicle.</p><p>Spotts was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and also cited for failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic, failure to use turning signals, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to give information and render aid, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, and failure to follow general lighting requirements. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III of Shamokin.</p><p>Vehicle theft</p><p>LOCUST GAP - James Richford, 63, of 411 N. Washington St., Shamokin, was charged with two counts each of theft by unlawful taking and simple assault and charges of receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of an automobile and driving without a license following an Aug. 20 incident.</p><p>Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Matthew Filarski charged Richford after he allegedly punched and kicked George J. Zanella in the area of Marshall Street, Locust Gap, then took his 1992 Chevrolet Astro Van, leaving him in the woods.</p><p>Richford was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones of Mount Carmel Wednesday and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.</p><p>Theft from vehicles</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Stevie N. Cokosky, 20, of 669 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, loitering and prowling at night, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking and criminal conspiracy following an incident in the 500 block of Dewart Street on Jan. 12.</p><p>Cokosky was charged by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Scott Weaver after being found with a number of items taken from vehicles, including iPods, car stereo equipment, satellite radios, CDs and a cell phone.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III of Shamokin.</p><p>DUI arrest</p><p>MARION HEIGHTS - Dale D. Wilk, 30, of 210 N. School St., Natalie, was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended property, failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic and failure to make immediate notice of an accident to police.</p><p>The charges, filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Daniel Politza, stem from an accident on Park Avenue in Marion Heights on Dec. 4, and Wilk's failure to give a blood sample for chemical testing.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Brosious, 18, both of Sunbury, reported to state police at Selinsgrove that sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, someone broke the passenger-side window of a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse and removed a purse containing money and identification. The vehicle was parked in the employees' parking lot of the Perkins Restaurant located along Routes 11 and 15.</p><p>Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Dominic Picerno at 374-8145.</p><p>DUI</p><p>MONROE TOWNSHIP - Scott Morton, of Sunbury, was charged with DUI and summary traffic violations following a traffic stop at 12:59 a.m. Jan. 7, on Routes 11 and 15 at Mull's Auto.</p><p>State police at Selinsgrove report that Morton was stopped for a traffic violation and police found him to be under the influence.</p><p>Aggravated assault</p><p>MAHONING TOWNSHIP - A 17-year-old female will face juvenile charges in Montour County following an assault at the North Central Secure Treatment Facility at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.</p><p>State police at Milton report the female punched, kicked and spit on employees Holly Hollada and Penny Hess, causing minor injuries to both. Police say the investigation is continuing into the incident.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Two hurt</p><p>BARRY TOWNSHIP - Two drivers are listed in serious condition at Geisinger Medical Center following a crash at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Route 901 and Buery's Road.</p><p>State police at Schuylkill Haven reported a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Clair G. Wolfgang Jr., 75, of Lavelle, was traveling east on Buery's Road and approaching a stop sign at the intersection with Route 901 as a 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by June White, 65, of Cressona, was traveling south in the eastbound lane of Route 901, approaching the intersection. The Ram came to a stop at the sign, but then unsafely entered the eastbound lane of 901 and the two vehicles struck one another.</p><p>Police reported that Wolfgang will be cited for a traffic violation as a result of the investigation.</p><p>Drug offenses</p><p>ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Christopher J. Fisher, 28, of 601 W. Market St., Trevorton, was charged by Trooper William Gangloff of state police at Stonington with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Dec. 8 incident at 601 W. Market St., Trevorton.</p><p>One vehicle crash</p><p>MONROE TOWNSHIP - A Milton man was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:23 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 11 in Snyder County.</p><p>State police at Selinsgrove say a 2006 Jeep Liberty, driven by Scott Fultz, 30, of Milton, was traveling south on Route 11 when the vehicle exited the south lane and struck a rock embankment. After the initial impact, Fultz's vehicle crossed over Route 11 and struck a guide rail off the east shoulder of the roadway.</p><p>Fultz was taken to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment, and police say the crash remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Shamokin Dam Fire Company, Hummels Wharf Fire Company and Americus Hose Ambulance.</p><p>Rocks thrown</p><p>SHAMOKIN - A 13-year-old Shamokin male was cited for disorderly conduct after he allegedly threw rocks at a home on North Third Street, hitting the front door and window. The incident occured at 8:35 p.m., Jan. 17.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Disorderly conduct</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old Coal Township male and a 14-year-old Shamokin male were charged by Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky with disorderly conduct relating to a physical altercation Friday in the cafeteria at Shamokin Area Middle/High School.</p><p>No injuries were reported.</p><p>DUI</p><p>RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Justin R. Ruiz, 26, of 128 S. Market St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Stephen Spade with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of careless driving relating to a June 9 vehicle stop on Route 54 near All Saints Cemetery.</p><p>Police reported Ruiz had a blood-alcohol content of .102 percent.</p><p>DUI</p><p>RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol were filed by Patrolman Stephen Spade against Shawn L. Fegley, 36, of 103 Wall St., Danville.</p><p>The charges relate a June 18 incident in the parking lot at Turkey Hill Minit Market in Elysburg, in which Fegley was found sleeping behind the steering wheel of his truck with the keys in the ignition.</p><p>Police said Fegley had a blood-alcohol content of .264 percent.</p><p>Possesses knife</p><p>ATLAS - Dustin C. Congello, 26, of 344 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush with possessing an offensive weapon and disorderly conduct relating to an Oct. 11 incident.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Congello was seen by Lance Glenney possessing a knife in the hallway of Glenney's residence at 242 E. Columbia Ave. Hollenbush later found the knife in Congello's possession in the 300 block of East Columbia Avenue.</p><p>Retail theft</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - Dawel Lantigua, 19, of 17 S. Rock St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Terry Ketchem with three counts each of retail theft and criminal trespass relating to incidents that occurred at Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Lantigua is accused of stealing two DVDs and an X-Box game valued at $92.92 on Nov. 28, an X-Box hard drive valued at $129 on Nov. 30, and a security device from a television valued at $238 on Dec. 6.</p><p>Simple assault</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Aleah M. Thompson, 29, of 19 Gold St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Darwin Tobias III with simple assault and harassment involving a Jan. 15 disturbance at her residence.</p><p>Thompson is accused of pushing Sherry Vesnefski to the ground and intentionally stepping on her ankle, which was fractured in the incident.</p><p>Multiple offenses</p><p>ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Franklin M. Middaugh, 24, of 1049 W. Coal St., Trevorton, was charged by Trooper Nicholas Burger of state police at Stonington with fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving without proper registration, driving under suspension, depositing waste or other material on a highway, careless driving and reckless driving relating to a Jan. 8 incident at the intersection of Routes 225 and 2044 in Zerbe Township.</p><p>DUI offenses</p><p>ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington charged Steven M. Shiro, 28, of Spring Glen, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, a lighting violation and failure to wear a seat belt involving a Dec. 10 incident on Route 225 near Route 890 in Zerbe Township.</p><p>Police reported Shiro had a blood-alcohol content of .107 percent.</p><p>Rock thrown</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Robert A. Montefusco, 43, of 803 N. Washington St., Apt. 3, Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman William Miner with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, obstructing a highway and propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle.</p><p>Police reported Montefusco threw a rock that hit the window of a moving vehicle occupied by three people, including a 1-year-old boy, and shouted an obscenity as the vehicle passed him at Sunbury and Shamokin streets on Dec. 26.</p><p>Police said Montefusco was standing in the intersection blocking traffic and shouting at vehicles when he threw the rock.</p><p>Theft charges</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - Dawn Leggins, 44, of 310 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Terry Ketchem with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Leggins is accused of stealing a $30 gift card from Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61 on Dec. 21 and using it to make a purchase. Police said the gift card owned by Matt Filarski was left on a counter inside the store.</p><p>Drug paraphernalia</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Dana L. Calder, 21, of 322 E. Sunbury St., Apt. 4, Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possession of drug paraphernalia.</p><p>Police reported Calder possessed a marijuana smoking bowl containing burnt marijuana residue at 519 N. Coal St. on Nov. 15.</p><p>Drug charges</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has charged Thomas F. Kruskie, 25, of 144 W. Willow St., Shamokin, with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine and possession of hydrocodone and alprazolam.</p><p>The charges relate to a Jan. 10 incident at Kruskie's residence.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Minor injuries</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - Three people were injured and a driver was cited following a two-vehicle crash on Route 901 at 1:44 p.m. Wednesday.</p><p>Coal Township police reported a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Albert G. Price, 81, of 22 Main St., Ashland, was traveling west on Route 901 through a posted construction zone when he failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a 2000 Dodge Neon driven by Rebecca Holloway, 18, and owned by Karen A. Holloway, both of 436 Walnut St., Sunbury.</p><p>Price reported a minor injury, but refused medical treatment. Holloway and her passenger, Nichole Visavati, also reported minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Both vehicles sustained light damage and were driven from the scene.</p><p>Police cited Price for failing to drive a vehicle at a safe speed. Pennsylvania State Police, Coal Township Fire Department and AREA Services assisted.</p><p>Vehicle rollover</p><p>ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a vehicle rollover at 9:30 a.m. Monday on Cider Press Road near Keller Road.</p><p>State police at Stonington say a 2007 Ford Escape, driven by Melissa A. Tumolo, 42, of Sunbury, was traveling east on Cider Press Road when she lost control of the vehicle and hit a dirt embankment, causing the vehicle to flip onto its roof.</p><p>Tumolo and her passenger, a 16-year-old female, were not injured in the crash.</p><p>Hit and run</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - Brian Dunleavy, 22, of 1780 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was cited by police following a hit and run accident at 1 a.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Chemung Street.</p><p>Police say Dunleavy was operating a 2005 Ford Escape east on Chemung Street when he hit a parked 1997 Pontiac, owned by Albert and Christopher James, of 1200 Chemung St., and then fled the scene, parking the Escape on Meade Street off of Pulaski Avenue.</p><p>The James vehicle sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.</p><p>Dunleavy was cited for accidents involving an unattended vehicle or property and failure to give immediate notice of an accident to police.</p><p>Retail theft</p><p>KELLY TOWNSHIP - Carissa M. Koons, 18, of Paxinos, and a 17-year-old female from Sunbury were cited by state police at Milton for retail theft after allegedly concealing and removing $21.42 of merchandise from Wal-Mart in Kelly Township at 4:20 p.m. Thursday.</p><p>2-car crash</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a parked car at the intersection of Spruce and Locust Streets at 4:09 a.m. Saturday.</p><p>Coal Township Patrolman Joshua M. Wynn reported a 1995 Ford truck driven by Allan Ciborowski, 50, of Coal Township, was traveling east on Spruce Street and heading down a hill when he began to slide on the snow-covered road, striking a 2011 Ford truck owned by Debra Bainbridge, of Coal Township, that was parked on Spruce Street.</p><p>Ciborowski's vehicle had to be towed from the scene.</p><p>'T-bone'</p><p>SHAMOKIN - An Atlas woman suffered a minor injury in a two-car accident Sunday night at Sunbury and Orange streets.</p><p>Cpl. John Brown, who investigated the 8:02 p.m. crash, reported Aaron Rothermel, 20, of 1119 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was driving a 1998 Nissan west on Sunbury Street when he failed to stop for a red light, causing his vehicle to "T-bone" a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven north on Orange Street by Judith Kerrick, 57, of 104 E. Saylor St., Atlas.</p><p>Rothermel's car sustained minor damage. Police said a tire on Kerrick's vehicle was bent and the vehicle was towed from the scene.</p><p>Kerrick was transported by her daughter, Jennifer Berkoski, to Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she underwent emergency room treatment before being released.</p><p>Brown said Rothermel will be cited for a red light violation.</p><p>Assisting at the scene were Patrolman Scott Weaver, AREA Services personnel and members of Shamokin Fire Bureau.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Underage drinking</p><p>SELINSGROVE - Brodie Hill Ercole, 18, of Lewisburg; a 17-year-old from Jackson, N.J.; Nancy Matthews Heidt, 20, of North Kingstown, R.I., and Danielle Elizabeth Reber, 19, of Selinsgrove, were cited by state police at Selinsgrove for underage drinking relating to a traffic stop at 12:17 a.m. Saturday on 18th Street at Susquehanna University.</p><p>Thefts from vehicles</p><p>BUTLER TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating thefts from multiple vehicles late Friday night or early Saturday morning.</p><p>Police reported medical supplies, two GPS devices and a Sirius radio were stolen.</p><p>Police reminded motorists to lock their vehicles.</p><p>Anyone with information about the thefts is urged to call Butler Township police at 875-4131.</p><p>Items stolen</p><p>DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported someone stole $900 worth of items from a residence at 7715 Susquehanna Trail owned by Richard Floyd, 47, of Muncy, between Nov. 15 and Jan. 6.</p><p>Dog shot, killed</p><p>DERRY TOWNSHIP - Animal cruelty charges are pending against a known female who allegedly shot an adult female yellow Labrador after tying it to a tree Saturday in this Montour County township.</p><p>State police at Milton reported the Labrador and her puppy owned by James Oliver White, 56, of Danville, gained access to a fenced in area on Hillside Road where numerous rabbits were kept on the property of the accused. Police said the known female suspect discovered a dead rabbit and removed the dogs from the secured area before separating them. The suspect then allegedly tied the adult dog to a tree on her property and shot it three times with a .22-caliber rifle. The dog died after being shot at about 5 p.m.</p><p>The puppy was returned to White.</p><p>An investigation is continuing.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Truck-tractor crash</p><p>FOSTER TOWNSHIP - Trevon G. Simms, 26, of Brooklyn, Md., suffered moderate injuries in a truck-tractor crash Friday morning along Interstate 81 in this Schuylkill County township.</p><p>State police at Frackville reported Simms was driving a 2010 International truck-tractor without a semi-trailer at 6 a.m. when it slid off the snow-covered road into the center median and rolled onto its right side.</p><p>Simms was transported by corpsmen of Tremont Ambulance Squad to Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville.</p><p>Assisting were members of Goodwill Hose Company in Frackville.</p><p>Mail offense</p><p>WILLIAMSPORT - A former Shamokin mail carrier pleaded guilty last week to a misdemeanor of unauthorized opening of mail before U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Arbuckle III.</p><p>Joseph Clemas, who was charged in December with unlawfully opening and destroying a piece of first-class mail on June 20, entered the plea.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Resisting arrest</p><p>MOUNT CARMEL - Steven D. Ennis, 28, of 222 S. Beech St., was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness following an incident at 1:56 a.m. Jan. 1 in the 100 block of North Oak Street.</p><p>Borough Police Patrolman David Donkochik reported that Ennis was involved in a fight with another individual in the Susquehanna Bank parking lot. Police broke up the fight and began citing those involved.</p><p>Ennis was instructed to sit in a vehicle, but kept exited the vehicle and began walking away from the scene.</p><p>Officers attempted to grab him, but Ennis allegedly ran across Oak Street before falling at a gas station, where police took him into custody. A preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol level to be .23 percent.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones of Mount Carmel and a preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, Feb. 15.</p><p>One-car crash</p><p>SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A Sunbury man was not injured in a one-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Route 61 near a private driveway.</p><p>State police at Stonington say a 2000 Buick Regal, driven by Thomas C. Krist, 21, of Sunbury, was traveling north on Route 61 at 8:54 a.m. when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle entered the southbound lane of Route 61, struck a tree, spun counter-clockwise and struck a utility pole.</p><p>Criminal trespass</p><p>UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Brent K. Barrows, 55, of Carlisle, was cited by state police at Stonington for criminal trespass after he was found hunting at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 11 in a wooded area near Bennick Road, which is private property owned by Max B. Baslick, 47, of Sunbury.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Wheels stolen</p><p>SHAMOKIN DAM - State troopers said a pair of steel wheels were stolen earlier this week from a car parked at an automotive dealer in Monroe Township, Snyder County.</p><p>Two 13-inch steel wheels were removed from a 1989 Ford Escort between 6 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Tuesday, state police at Selinsgrove said.</p><p>The vehicle is owned by Elaine Klock, 63, of Sunbury.</p><p>Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 374-8145.</p><p>Hit and run</p><p>ASHLAND - Borough police seek information on a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Catherine Street Wednesday.</p><p>A 2010 Toyota sedan owned by Becky David, 37, of 424 Catherine St., was struck on the passenger side by an unknown vehicle between 3 and 7 p.m., Sgt. Eric Vinskie reported.</p><p>A piece of red reflector from the hit-and-run vehicle was left behind at the scene. Police said it should have damage to its passenger side.</p><p>Anyone with information is asked to call police at 875-4131.</p><p>Weapons stolen</p><p>NEW COLUMBIA - A cache of weapons valued at more than $3,000 was reported stolen Wednesday from a home in White Deer Township, Union County.</p><p>State police at Milton said someone entered the home of Lash Koch, 58, of New Columbia, located one mile west of New Columbia Road, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and stole 11 guns, a compound bow and a crossbow.</p><p>The weapons stolen were a pair of Mossberg Model 835 Ultimag 12 gauge shotguns with synthetic camouflage stock and serial number UM593784, each valued at $350; Mossberg 3-inch magnum pump 12 gauge shotgun, $300; Sovern 12 gauge shotgun with serial number A3317, $200; Marlin .22 magnum rifle with model number 25-M, $150; Thompson Hawken .50 caliber flintlock, $400; Traditions .50 caliber flintlock, $200; Thompson Firestorm .50 caliber flintlock with serial number 6869, $350; Winchester Model 94 30-30 lever action rifle, $300; Sears .22 caliber long rifle, $100; Western Field 20 gauge pump action shotgun, $150; Hoyt compound bow, camouflage, $150; unknown make and model camouflage crossbow, $100.</p><p>Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 524-2662.</p>]]></description>

	        <description><![CDATA[<p>Vehicle vandalism</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Matthew R. Valanoski, 23, of 833 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, was charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct by Shamokin City Police following an incident on the 200 block of West Arch Street on Dec. 10.</p><p>Cpl. Darwin Tobias III reported that security footage from a parking area near the Independence Fire Company showed Valanoski allegedly keying a 2008 Volkswagen coupe owned by Ronald Maurer, causing more than $2,000 in damage.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.</p><p>Retail theft</p><p>MONROE TOWNSHIP - Kimberly Clauser, 22, and Kevin Keel, 21, both of Shamokin, were cited by state police at Selinsgrove for retail theft in connection with an incident at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Wal-Mart along Routes 11-15.</p><p>Police said Clauser and Keel allegedly stole five DVDs valued at $109.88 from the store.</p><p>Gift card theft</p><p>SHAMOKIN - Annette M. Phelps, 44, of 630 E. Clay St. Apt. 1, Shamokin, was charged by city police Cpl. Darwin Tobias III with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after she alleged removed a $100 Wal-Mart gift card from a Christmas card sent to a Shamokin resident, and used it to make purchases between Dec. 19 and Dec. 23, spending $88.38. </p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.  </p><p>Vandalism</p><p>VALLEY TOWNSHIP - Andrew George, 60, of Danville, reported to state police at Milton that sometime between 7:20 and 7:30 p.m. Monday, someone shot paintballs at his residence on Trump Road, causing minor damage to the siding. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 524-2662.</p><p>Theft by deception</p><p>SHAMOKIN - City Police Patrolman William Miner charged Marie K. Frick, 39, of 804 N. Washington St., with theft by deception on a June 3 incident where Frick contracted Shuey Jewelers to fix a necklace and paid them the $65 fee with a personal check, only to put a stop payment order on it to refuse payment. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin.</p><p>DUI</p><p>ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Edward W. Klock, 23, of 209 Trevorton Road, Shamokin, was charged with driving under the influence and cited for driving at the maximum speed, careless driving, reckless driving and failure to use restraint systems following a traffic stop on Route 225 at 2:24 a.m. on Dec. 24.</p><p>Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Nicholas Berger reported in court documents filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, that Klock pulled away from the marked police vehicle at a high rate of speed. The trooper gave chase and then followed Klock's vehicle traveling between 90 and 100 mph, then saw Klock brake hard and turned off into a driveway.</p><p>After a preliminary breath and field sobriety tests, Klock was taken to then-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for testing. Chemical testing showed his blood alcohol level to be .122 percent at the time of the incident.</p><p>Unauthorized use</p><p>SHAMOKIN - City police charged Francine Gerrity, 44, of 620 Hobart St., Gordon, with unauthorized use of an automobile after failing to return a 1997 Buick to Thomas E. Miller, of Shamokin, after borrowing the vehicle a month prior.</p><p>With the help of Shenandoah Police, the vehicle was recovered on Dec. 23. Miller told police she had it with Miller's permission. Miller told police that she asked to borrow the vehicle to visit friends and family in New Jersey, but said he did not speak with her since then and claimed her cell phone no longer works.</p><p>DUI charges</p><p>COAL TOWNSHIP - Tara Jo Duzick, 28, of 1439 W. Fern St., Coal Township, was charged with driving under the influence and cited for various traffic violations following an investigation at her residence on Dec. 19.</p><p>Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Thomas Leib reported in court documents that Duzick called police to meet her at her home to investigate an incident of domestic violence in Trevorton. Police observed her trying to parallel park her vehicle, stopping the vehicle more than 18 inches from the curb.</p><p>The trooper reported that following field sobriety tests, Duzick was placed under arrest and taken to then-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for testing. Lab results showed her blood alcohol level to be .187 percent at the time of the investigation.</p><p>The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.</p>]]></description>
