Borough parking restrictions set for homecoming weekend

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police have announced parking restrictions for Friday and Saturday in the borough.

On Friday, parking will be restricted on both sides of Second Street, from Oak to Vine streets, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. to allow for setup of homecoming floats and the Mount Carmel Area High Jr./Sr. High School band for the homecoming parade. All vehicles need to be moved or will be subject to tickets.

On Saturday, there will be brief and temporary street closures in the business district on Oak Street, from Avenue to Third Street, and on Third Street, from Hickory to Maple streets, to accomodate a 5K run and 1-mile walk beginning at 9 a.m. at Third and Oak streets.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Oak Street will be closed at Avenue for Halloween parade setup. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Second and Oak streets.
