SHAMOKIN - This week's "sore spot" is a home at 809 Sixth St. The home, owned by Raymond Splane, contains a crumbling cement wall and a large tree growing near the building foundation. Several letters calling for the property to be repaired have reportedly been sent to Splane.

This week's "bright spot" is on Eighth Street, near Independence Street, also in Shamokin. Several large, colorful maple trees line the street, which intersects the downtown district.
