Lourdes Regional's girls basketball team will meet a familiar opponent today in a PIAA Class A state quarterfinal game when the Red Raiders take on District One champion Jenkintown at 3:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Liberty High School.

The Red Raiders (21-6) and Drakes (24-6) met last season in the second round at Hamburg, with Lourdes taking a 43-29 win on their way to the state title game in Hershey. Carmella Bickel scored 14 points with seven assists in that game.

Bickel has been on her game so far in the state playoffs, averaging 22 points per game and controlling the offensive flow at point guard.

Jenkintown has advanced with wins over Greenwood (46-28) and Southern Fulton (57-27). The Drakes were a very young team last season, and six of the seven players who saw action against Lourdes last season are back.

Junior guard Jennifer Kremp and sophomore guard Mia Kolb are the top scorers, averaging 11.2 and 10.0 points per game, respectively. Kolb and her sister Natalie each scored eight points last year to lead the Drakes against the Red Raiders.

Juniors Amelia Mulvaney and Ashley Kremp average 8.4 point and 7.5 points per game, sophomore Caroline Arena 6.3 and Natalie Kolb 4.9 in a balanced attack which averages 48.7 points per game.

The Drakes give up 31.4 points per game.

Jenkintown has lost twice to New Hope Solebury, and also has losses to Wildwood (N.J.), Souderton, Council Rock South and Chestnut Hill Academy. New Hope Solebury was 28-2 and eliminated in the AA tournament Friday by defending state champ Neumannn-Goretti, 59-36.

Wildwood was 25-5 and Souderton 23-7, and the Drakes also have two wins over Lower Moreland, which eliminated Berwick from the AAAA tournament Thursday.
