MC celebrates Earth Day
MOUNT CARMEL — Citizens in the Mount Carmel area are gearing up for Earth Day with a variety of green events set to kick off Saturday.
• Free crafting workshop —1870 Studio, 110 Church St., Locust Gap, is hosting an upcycling and reusing crafting workshop. The workshop is set in a church built in 1870 that has been refurbished into a home and art studio. You can visit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Thrift store walk — Follow the balloons in downtown Mount Carmel to participating thrift stores. Mike’s Antiques and Collectables, 48 N. Oak St., will be giving away a free seed packet. The Thrift Store, 243 S. Oak St., will have a fill-a-bag special for $5. The Closet Door Resale and Consignment Boutique, 10 S. Oak St., will be holding an anniversary sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shops on the Corner, 100 S. Oak St. will be holding a new vendor’s grand opening. Also participating will be Jubilee Ministries Thrift Store, 151 S. Hickory St., the This and That Store, 30 N. Oak St., and the Oak Street Emporium, 5 S. Oak St.
• Eco-friendly crafts and giveaways — Mount Carmel Farmers Market, Route 61 and 54, will be hosting Earth Day craft vendors selling eco-friendly crafts, vendor specials, and giveaways.
• Craft supply swap meet — Mount Carmel Area Public Library, 30 S. Oak St., will be holding a craft supply swap meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring you extra supplies to swap and/or sell.
