Proceeds to help families of pediatric oncology patients

MOUNT CARMEL — The Mount Carmel Area ThinkBIG Dance Marathon committee has announced its 2017 student leaders and other details about this year’s dance marathon, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 4 in the high school gym.

The committee raises money throughout the year to help families of pediatric oncology patients at Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital with unexpected out-of-pocket expenses. The grand total is announced at the marathon. Last year more than $37,000 was raised.

ThinkBIG recently hosted an elementary school dance and is planning to hold a talent show from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 12 in high school auditorium. Those interested can sign up through Tuesday. An audition date will be set with a limited amount of acts chosen for the show. Anyone interested should contact Cassandra Niglio at 570-205-8526.

Student leaders this year are Bailey Little, McKenna Fletcher, Angel Barwicki, Josilyn Adams, Nicole Varano, Myia Miriello, Mia Kaminsky, Kourtney Honicker, Hannah Nolter, Sarah Cooper, Peyton Galitski, McKayla Purcell, Chloe Smith, Maci Mazzatesta, Ireland Reed, Allison Shurock, Halie Kimsal, Camlin Bogutskie, Emilee Wasilewski, CJ Chapman, Michael Scicchitano, Tyler Krah, Tommy McDonald, Ben McFadden, John Ayrea, Walter Kalinoski, Tommy Moser and Elijah Watkins.
