SUNBURY - The Behavioral Health Unit at Sunbury Community Hospital is looking for some talented artists to help transform the unit.

"We are looking to engage the community in this project by recruiting local artists - individuals, classes, art programs, etc. - to design and paint murals on the walls in our common areas," said Jeff Buchanan, behavioral health program director. "Our patients can benefit from the stimulation of their senses."

Local artists interested in participating can call Buchanan at 286-3363.

"Earlier this year, as we opened the new emergency room, we enlisted the help of 25 students from throughout the valley to provide artwork to decorate the hallways, waiting areas and treatment areas of the new facility," said Jeff Hunt, chief executive officer. "Those pieces of student artwork have garnered many positive comments the community. By using the talents of more local artists to decorate another area of our hospital, we look to replicate the calming effect and community connection we've established in our emergency room."
