Choking charge

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Matt Dillman has cited Ronald Wayne Cole, 38, of 338 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, for harassment and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 2:45 p.m. June 4 in the 300 block of South Beech Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, police were informed by Marcie Howerter, 28, that she and Cole were arguing over a vehicle when Cole choked her inside his residence and followed her outside, where he began to yell in the street.

Dog emaciated

MOUNT CARMEL - Officer David Donkochik has cited Nicole Lynn Ebersole, 35, of 9 S. Locust St., Mount Carmel, for cruelty to animals in connection with a June 11 incident in the first block of South Locust Street.

Police were notified of a dog being found in front of Ebersole's residence that was severely emaciated and eating from garbage bags. A borough woman came upon the dog and transported it to an area animal hospital for emergency treatment.

Upon investigating the incident, police said Ebersole admitted to owning the dog, which is a yellow lab mix that weighed about 30 pounds when it was found.

Teen hit father

MOUNT CARMEL - A 13-year-old borough girl has been charged by Patrolman David Donkochik with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct for allegedly assaulting her father inside their residence on West Seventh Street at 7 p.m. June 19.

Police said the teen is currently on probation.

Car window smashed

MOUNT CARMEL - A 17-year-old Mount Carmel male has been charged by Officer Matt Dillman with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct relating to a May 27 incident in the 100 block of West Sixth Street.

Police reported the teen is accused of using a baseball bat to smash the windshield on a 2008 Mini Cooper owned by Zsido Construction. Police said the teen became enraged when the victim refused to give the juvenile money.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - James Kuczewski, 50, of 327 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with theft and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Senior Magisterial District Judge Michael Mychak, Kuczewski is accused of stealing $10,820.50 worth of heavy equipment parts from Mallard Contracting in Diamondtown on June 1 and selling them for scrap metal.

Welding truck stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating the theft of a 1985 welding truck containing a Bobcat welder and welding materials.

Police said the truck was stolen from Shamokin Filler Co. between Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Fight on Pine St.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Michael Paul, 25, of 933 W. Pine St., Coal Township, and Marcos Velazquez, 29, of 950 W. Pine St., Coal Township, were cited by Patrolman Jason Adams for disorderly conduct in connection with a fight at 7:30 p.m. June 15 in the 900 block of West Pine Street.

DUI charge

SELINSGROVE - Edward N. Morales, 26, of 141 N. Fifth St., Sunbury, has been charged by state police at Selinsgrove with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to drive in a single lane and careless driving involving a June 14 incident along Route 11 in Monroe Township.

Woman listed in critical condition, seven others injured after Route 147 crash

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - The driver of a pick-up truck involved in a three-vehicle crash near Sunbury Thursday afternoon was listed in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Thurday evening, according to a hospital nursing supervisor.
