Democratic women meet today

Shamokin Area Democratic Women's Club will hold their meeting at 7 p.m. today at Joan Kelley's home, 2311 Stetler Drive , Coal Township. Plans will be discussed regarding the "Annual Outstanding Democrat" Patio Party. All members are asked to attend.

Time to plan for Ukrainian event

FRACKVILLE - The next Ukrainian Seminary Day planning meeting will be held at 7 p.m. July 14 in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church hall, Frackville. This will be the final meeting before the event, set for July 26, at St. Nicholas Grove, Primrose. All are invited to attend.

Watch free movies in the park Friday

GORDON - The Gordon Fish and Game Club will host a free "Movie Night in the Park" Friday in Gordon Community Park. The double-feature will start at dusk near the large pavilion. The first film will be the animated hit, "Kung Fu Panda," followed by action thriller, "Transformers: The Movie." Bring blankets and/or chairs, and enjoy one or both films in surround sound. Rain date is Saturday. Food, beverages, novelties, T-shirts and memberships will be available for purchase at 7 p.m.

Entertainment announced for festival

SHAMOKIN - Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church will hold its annual Transfiguration Festival from 4 to 10 p.m. Aug. 1, and from noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 2. The New Individuals will provide music from 7 to 10 p.m Saturday. Sunday entertainment will be provided by Soundwave from 2 to 5 p.m., and The Shoreliners will perform from 7 to 10 p.m.
