INDIANA — Assumption College, led by Lourdes Regional graduate Bob Chesney, fell to Indiana (Pa.) 27-22 Saturday in the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.
The Greyhounds led midway through the fourth quarter before top seed Indiana retook the lead with just 1:09 remaining in the game to cap off a 13-play 76-yard drive.
The loss brought to an end the team’s third-straight postseason appearance and left the Greyhounds with an 11-2 record.
IUP used a dominant rushing game to overcome the Greyhounds, running for 340 yards while the defense forced four turnovers, including three interceptions.
The Assumption senior class finished as the winningest in program history, going 38-11 overall and capturing a pair of NE10 Championships.
