TURBOTVILLE — It didn’t take long for Warrior Run to enter some of its younger players into the game Tuesday afternoon in Turbotville, as the Defenders rolled to a 13-0 victory over Mount Carmel.

Warrior Run pelted the Mount Carmel goal with shots to open the game, and once the first ball found the back of the net just 6:57 into the game, the flood gates opened.

The Defenders knocked in 10 first half goals from eight different players to take a dominating lead.

Freshman Alex Hazzoum assisted on three of the first four Defender goals, and accounted for a total of four assists in the game. Hazzoum also scored in the second half.

Alex’s brother Tyrese Hazzoum scored a pair of first half goals, and was the only player other than freshman Hayden DuRussell to score multiple goals in the game.

Warrior Run moved the ball up the field well no matter who was in the game, as both the team veterans and young underclassmen made crisp passes and found the open man all game long.

“Its always good when you can play a good number of your players,” said Warrior Run head coach Andrew Bieber after the game. “It was good to see our younger players pass and move the ball well throughout the game. Its certainly a good sign for things to come.”

The Defenders used three different keepers in the game to preserve the shutout, but none of them made any saves, as Mount Carmel failed to register a single shot in the game.

Warrior Run improved to 3-2 overall with the win and will take on Central Columbia at 4:30 p.m. today in Turbotville.

Meanwhile, Mount Carmel fell to 0-5 to open the season and has failed to record a goal yet this season. The Red Tornadoes travel to take on Sullivan County at 4:30 p.m. today.
