COAL TOWNSHIP — A Coal Township man suffered minor injuries shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday when a car he was driving skidded across a wet Route 901 in the township and overturned near Quarry Road.
Coal Township police said Shawn McBride, 39, of 1419 Wabash St., was driving south toward Excelsior. When the crash occurred. His 2006 Subaru went off the right side of the road. He was able to get it back into the lane of travel, but then it shot across the oncoming lane of traffic and off the highway. It grazed a utility pole, struck some rocks and flipped onto its roof, police said, coming to rest in a small drainage ditch and wooded area on the east side of the highway.
McBride was treated at the scene by emergency medical technicians from AREA Services.
His car was extensively damaged and was towed.
Responding with police were firefighters from Coal Township, fire police, emergency squad members and AREA Services crew members.
