LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — A former Shamokin area man is in serious condition today at Geisinger Medical Center after allegedly being stabbed early Sunday morning with a knife during an altercation in a parking lot on Liberty Valley Road near Danville in this Montour County township.
State police at Milton reported Kyle Pekera, 36, of Gainesville, Virginia, who formerly resided in the Shamokin area, was stabbed by Philip Walker, 39, of Ocala, Florida, just after midnight. Pekera was seriously injured and transported to Geisinger, where he was listed Sunday night in serious condition by a nursing supervisor.
Jarrett Williams, 29, of Shamokin, also was taken to Geisinger after allegedly being hit in the head with a glass mug by Emily Daniel, 21, of Ocala, Florida, during a separate altercation.
Williams underwent emergency room treatment before being released.
State police reported Jason Moser, 32, of Mount Carmel, and Jenna Kashner, 25, of Elysburg, also were victims in the disturbance.
Walker was charged by state police at Milton with aggravated assault and simple assault. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Douglas Brewer and committed to Montour County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Daniel was arraigned by Brewer on charges of simple assault and harassment and committed to Columbia County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
An investigation is continuing into the stabbing and assault.
