SHAMOKIN — Three defendants entered guilty pleas Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and were ordered to pay fines and costs.
• John Williard, 34, of 23 Eagle Ave., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to a summary of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs. Charges of simple assault and harassment were withdrawn.
Williard was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell with assaulting Nicole Knight at 23 Eagle Ave. on Sept. 26.
• John W. Derr, 28, of 914 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and make restitution in the amount of $135 to Robert Gusick, of Shamokin. He also was placed on probation for six months.
An additional charge of receiving stolen property was withdrawn.
Derr was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky with stealing pieces of scrap metal from a property on Stevens Street in Tharptown owned by Gusick and selling them at Stoneroad Scrap Metal Co.
Derr also pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on probation for six months. Charges of theft of secondary metal, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass were withdrawn.
Derr was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II with stealing several pounds of scrap metal belonging to Gusick from a demolition site at 316 N. Shamokin St. on Aug. 16.
• Daniel Dietz, 39, of 1741 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on probation for six months.
A charge of possessing acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitarate without a prescription was withdrawn.
Dietz was charged by Purcell in connection with an Aug. 15 incident at his residence.
