Fire prevention display set for Boyer’s
MOUNT CARMEL — Bill Shay, manager of the Mount Carmel Boyer’s Food Market, will team up with local fire companies for a display of firefighting and other emergency apparatus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the store, along Third Street.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out.”
“Seconds can mean the difference between residents of our community escaping safely from a fire or having their lives end in tragedy,” said Mayor Philip “Bing” Cimino. “Practice fire drills, teach children how to escape on their own, learn to close doors and, once outside, stay outside. Never go back in.”
He welcomes people to visit with local firefighters on Saturday to learn more. They will also give tours of the trucks and explain equipment.
“The fire department is grateful for Boyer’s continuing support and public safety in the surrounding communities,” Cimino said.
He cautioned customers to be careful entering and exiting the Boyer’s parking lot because of the extra activity.
