Crash on Rt. 225
COAL TOWNSHIP — One injury was reported in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning on Route 225 near Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Coal Township police reported Edward Campbell, of 938 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was driving a 2011 Hyundai south at 11:18 a.m. when he attempted to make a U-turn. Police said Mallory Hauck, of 1126 Cherry Town Road, Dornsife, who was operating a 2013 Honda south, observed Campbell making the U-turn and attempted to go around him, but both vehicles collided.
Hauck complained of head and facial pain and was transported by AREA Services ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she underwent emergency room treatment.
Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene.
An investigation is continuing.
Assisting Coal Township police were township firefighters and Shamokin Patrolman Brandon Cohick.
COAL TOWNSHIP — Thomas Kiefaber reported someone recently removed a black gas grill with an attached propane tank with the name “Tom K” written on it, a white plastic 55-gallon drum with the word “cans” written on it and assorted pieces of aluminum from his property at 802 W. Willow St.
Paxinos man escapes injury
UNION TOWNSHIP — Alex M. Schlief, 21, of Paxinos, escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident Saturday morning on Route 304 in this Union County township.
State police at Milton reported Schlief was driving a 2003 Hyundai Accent east at 8:07 a.m. when he attempted to negotiate a left curve and lost control of his car. His vehicle exited the south side of the road, struck a high tensile fence and post, traveled through a field, hit the fence a second time and descended an embankment before coming to rest.
Schlief, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited by Trooper Paul Materne for failing to drive in a single lane.
