Plow truck struck

MOUNT CARMEL — Lt. David Donkochik charged William J. Schu, 48, of 351 S. Willow St., Apt. 208, Mount Carmel, with possession of drug paraphernalia, hit and run, failure to provide information and render aid at an accident, driving under suspension and driving without insurance.

The charges relate to a two-vehicle accident at Avenue and Poplar Street at 10:18 a.m. Wednesday.

Police reported Schu was operating a maroon pickup truck that struck the rear of a snow plow driven by Todd Fleming, who was removing snow at Divine Redeemer Church. Fleming told police Schu then fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a female and a young child.

Assault

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP — Barry Thomas Moroskie, 50, of 308 Larch Road, Sunbury, was charged by Trooper Brian Ronk of state police at Stonington with simple assault and harassment relating to a Jan. 23 domestic disturbance.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Moroskie grabbed the right hand of his wife during an argument, causing a broken bone that required her to wear a cast.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Christopher W. Weston, 36, of Lititz, was charged by Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force Patrolmen Kyle Schauer and Nathan Foust with possession of methamphetamine, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Dec. 12 vehicle stop at Fifth and Walnut streets.

DUI

KULPMONT — Timothy M. Glowatski, 18, of 166 Fourth St., Strong, was charged by Trooper Patrick Roman of state police at Stonington with driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and failing to display a registration plate.

The charges relate to a Dec. 30 traffic stop in the 700 block of Chestnut Street.

Bad check

MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman Kevin Malukas charged Stephanie Shierant, 40, of 301 N. Oak St., Mount Carmel, with issuing a bad check in the amount of $300 for rent to Anthony Dallazia on Nov. 24.

Multiple charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Matthew R. Thomas, of Webster Street, Ranshaw, was charged by Patrolman Kyle Schauer with possessing a stun gun while being a convicted felon, driving a motorcycle without a working headlight, driving an unregistered motorcycle and failing to stop for a stop sign.

The charges relate to a Dec. 7 incident in the 300 block of South Oak Street.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL — Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force Officers Kyle Schauer and Nathan Foust charged Ellese Mae Nestico, 23, of 241 Columbia Ave., Atlas, with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failing to activate a turn signal and driving without a license.

The charges involve a Dec. 7 incident in the 200 block of South Oak Street.

Garbage route theft

MOUNT CARMEL — Chief of Police Christopher Buhay charged James Martello, 29, of 336 E. Center St., Mount Carmel, with theft and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge William Cole, Martello is accused of stealing $32 from the garbage route of James Miller, of Jim’s Hauling, Mount Carmel, on Jan. 19.

DUI

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP — Alana Margaret Cole, 22, of 302 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, was charged by Trooper Michael App of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, reckless driving, hit and run and failing to provide immediate notice of an accident to police.

Police reported Cole, who had a reported blood-alcohol content of .098 percent, was charged in connection with a one-vehicle accident on Jan. 1 on Route 125, approximately one-half mile north of Creek Road in East Cameron Township.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL — Brett Allen Yuschock, 26, of 140 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Trooper Michael App of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, stop sign and turning violations, careless driving and failing to wear a seat belt relating to a Dec. 31 incident at Fourth and Beech streets.

Police said Yuschock had a blood-alcohol content of .153 percent.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP — Robert William Adams, 33, of 921 Pine St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Michael Pitcavage with retail theft.

Police said Adams is accused of stealing two pairs of socks from CVS Pharmacy on Jan. 18.

Loitering

MOUNT CARMEL — Charges of simple assault, loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness were filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch against Stephanie M. Knorr, 30, of 305 W. Second St., Mount Carmel.

Police reported Knorr was observed standing on a porch at 241 W. Second St. at about 3 a.m. Jan. 18 with an aluminum baseball bat while wearing shorts and a tank top while the temperature was zero and the ground was covered with approximately six inches of snow.

Knorr told police she had the baseball bat to protect her against snakes that were all over her house. Knorr also said she was bitten by one of the snakes. Police said Knorr admitted to doing a “line” of methamphetamine with a friend earlier in the day.

Blight charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Hugh F. Donohue, 61, of Staten Island, New York, was charged by Patrolman Kevin Katch with causing a public nuisance and disorderly conduct.

Police reported Donohue owns a blighted property at 119 S. Locust St. that has caused damage to adjoining properties and become a danger to the community.

The borough ended up condemning the property.

Katch also charged Scott G. Grigas, 46, of 36 S. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, with the same offenses for failing to repair a blighted property at 36 S. Hickory St. that was later condemned.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP — Patrolman Kelly Campbell charged Joshua N. Smucker, 20, of Warsaw, New York, with driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving.

Police reported Smucker was driving on Route 54 between the co-generation plant and SOS Metals during a snowstorm.

Police said the incident occurred shortly after midnight Jan. 17.

Ethan J. Speechley, 20, of Leroy, New York, a passenger in Smucker’s car, also was charged by Campbell with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Failure to appear

MOUNT CARMEL — Lt. David Donkochik charged Brandon C. Dauber, 20, of 216 Columbia Ave., Aristes, with failing to appear for fingerprinting at the borough police station between Dec. 13 and Jan. 23.

Methamphetamine possession

KULPMONT — Nicholas J. Dusendschine, 24, of 716 Spruce St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Nathan Foust with possession of methamphetamine and Suboxone involving an Aug. 11 incident at Kulpmont Police Station.

Dusendschine also was charged by Trooper Nathan Messner of state police at Stonington with possessing methamphetamine at 1322 Scott St. on Dec. 16.

Multiple charges

KULPMONT — Timothy M. Glowatski, 28, of 166 Fourth St., Strong, was charged by Patrolman Nathan Foust with fleeing or attempting to elude police, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, careless driving and a stop sign violation relating to a vehicle and foot pursuit on June 6 that started in the 1100 block of Fir Street and culminated on Brennan’s Farm Road in Mount Carmel Township, where Glowatski fled from the vehicle he was operating.

Nicholas J. Miscavage, 19, of 429 E. Sixth St., Mount Carmel, a passenger in Glowatski’s vehicle, also was charged by Foust with fleeing or attempting to elude police.

Spice charge

KULPMONT — Chief of Police Patrick McAndrew charged Ruben Alvarez, 41, of 1037 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, with possession of Spice and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a Jan. 18 incident at 722 Spruce St.

McAndrew also charged Kyle Powers, 32, of 722 Spruce St., Kulpmont, with possession of Spice and endangering the welfare of a 2-year-old child relating to the same incident. 

Invasion of privacy

MARION HEIGHTS — Joseph Edward Burns, 55, of 117 W. Arch St., Frackville, was charged by Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush with four counts of invasion of privacy and two counts each of stalking and harassment for allegedly watching a woman dress in her bedroom on North Street from his vehicle on Jan. 18.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL — Michael P. Fishburn, 32, of 233 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Kevin Malukas with two counts of simple assault and one count of harassment.

Police said Fishburn, who was wanted on several warrants from multiple jurisdictions, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend on Jan. 28 at 233 S. Maple St. She suffered injuries in the assault.

DUI

MARION HEIGHTS — Andrea D. Burchette, 48, of 118 E. North St., Marion Heights, was charged by Trooper Jason Drumheller of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to drive in a single lane relating to a Dec. 17 incident on Route 2026 near West North Street in the borough.

Police reported Burchette had a blood-alcohol content of .126 percent.

Indecent exposure

MOUNT CARMEL — Stanley Swatsky, 69, of 129 W. Third St., Apt. 1, Mount Carmel, was charged by Chief of Police Christopher Buhay with indecent exposure and open lewdness.

Police said Swatsky was observed walking in the 100 block of West Third Street at 9:15 a.m. Jan. 27 with no pants on with his private areas exposed.
