Missing girl found

COAL TOWNSHIP — A missing 13-year-old girl was located Sunday and returned to her family, township police reported Monday morning.

Cierra McLaughlin hadn’t been seen since leaving home at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, police said previously.

3 escape injury

MIDDLECREEK TOWNSHIP — Three people, including a Coal Township man, escaped injury early Monday morning in a one-car accident on Smalsh Barracks Road in this Snyder County township.

State police at Selinsgrove reported Elizabeth R. French, 18, of Middleburg, was driving a 2017 Nissan Altima north at 2:30 a.m. when the car exited the side of the road and struck an embankment. The auto then careened back across Smalsh Barracks Road and exited the left side of the road, where it struck a truck bed liner before coming to rest in a yard.

French and her two passengers, Tyler J. Yoder, 23, of Coal Township, and Kiara L. Short, 18, of Middleburg, left the scene of the crash and walked to French’s residence, police said.

An investigation is continuing.

Police seeking cash owner

SHAMOKIN — Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III reported a sum of money was found in the city last week. The owner can claim the money at Shamokin Police Station.
