The Harlem Wizards will be displaying their basketball magic Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Southern Columbia Area High School against a team of area celebrities in a fundraiser for the SCA Boys Basketball Boosters.
One of the Wizards, David Paule, was at the school Wednesday showing some of the tricks he and his teammates will be doing before an enthusiastic audience of students.
Some of the area players who will play against the Wizards are Southern head boys coach Joey Britto, himself a former member of the Wizards; Colin Klebon, former Southern Columbia star and Bucknell University player; Ana Ditchey, teacher and Mount Carmel Area girls track and field coach; Rhonda Eckman, SYBL coach and teacher at Lourdes; Ted Deljonovan, Southern Columbia teacher and track and cross country coach; and present SouthernColumbia student-athletes Julian Fleming, Abby Hager, Ethan Knoebel, Jake Petro and others.
“This is a night of relatively inexpensive family entertainment,” said booster club Secretary Audie Davis. “There are some people from other school districts involved and I think the student-athletes all get a kick out of playing against them.”
Other officers of the booster club are Danelle Klebon, president; Cindy Gallagher, vice-president; and Pam Yancoskie, treasurer.
Tickets purchased before the event are $11 for adults and $8 for children and are available at the following locations:
Klebon Insurance Group, Elysburg; Gentlemen’s Barber Shop, Sunbury; and Brookside Nursery, Route 11, Danville, from now until the day of the game, or from any boys baskeball player. Tickets will also be available on the day of the game at Southern Columbia until 5:30 p.m. for $13 (adults) and $10 (children).
