SHAMOKIN — For more than half his life, Joseph Carner was on the wrong side of the law, the wrong end of the bottle and the wrong tip of the needle. Sober and drug-free now for four years, he has a lot to say — and his words are well worth the attention.

“I did not know the purpose that God had for my life,” Carner says. “I felt like it was worthless.”
