Once considered a creature of the forest, black bears can now be found in good numbers throughout the state, often wandering into urban areas.

With the coming of daylight today, Nov. 21 will see the opening of Pennsylvania’s statewide firearms bear season.

The season will continue through Tuesday, and — for the first time in the history of the state — will include a Sunday hunt on Nov. 22.
