There are various times for new beginnings. Many try to acquire good habits or get rid of bad habits by making New Year’s resolutions. However, few resolutions survive long into the new year when the resolvers realize just how long a year is.

Others combine a desire keep away from junk food with giving up something for Lent. They usually fare better than the New Year’s resolution makers, since six weeks of abstinence is doable, if not enjoyable. Although when Easter arrives it’s potato chips ahoy and ice cream Sunday.
