Fire in East Cameron Township

Fire crews left the scene of an outtened second-alarm fire on North Lombard Street in Shamokin to respond to a fire at an East Cameron Township home, where a firefighter was injured.

A News-Item reporter witnessed firefighter Jarrod Scandle appear to fall while attacking the fire from the rear porch of 3922 Upper Road and was pulled out by other firefighters. He was seen walking around after the incident and was checked out on scene before leaving the area in an ambulance.

The fire on North Lombard Street broke out at approximately 12 p.m. and crews were inside the row home clearing debris and hot spots when a call rang out at 1:19 p.m. for a second fire in East Cameron Township. Available crews rushed to assist with the second fire.

A call was made at approximately 1:45 p.m. for crews to evacuate the inside structure on Upper Road.
