MC vehicle hits pedestrians

On Wednesday night, police, emergency personnel and bystanders gather at the scene of a vehicle-pedestrian accident at Sixth and Hickory streets in Mount Carmel.

MOUNT CARMEL — A mother and her young son were reportedly hit by a vehicle while walking west along Sixth Street across its intersection with Hickory Street in a late afternoon accident that occurred at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Patrolman Kyle Schauer, the two victims, who were struck by an unidentified driver, were subsequently transported by Area Services ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital with unknown injuries.
