ELYSBURG — Knoebels Amusement Resort visitors can expect a brand new ride, the replacement of another ride, and several new food selections for the 2019 season.

America’s largest free-admission amusement park announced several 2019 updates ahead of its April 27 opening day, including a new ride named “Tumbling Timbers.” According to Knoebels’ spokesperson, Stacy Ososkie, the 16-passenger family ride is scheduled for a late spring/early summer opening.

“Both the ride platform and cars spin, creating a surprisingly thrilling family ride experience,” said Ososkie. “Visitors need to be at least 36 inches tall to ride Tumbling Timbers with an adult, and 47 inches to ride alone.”

The ride will be located near the will be located in the area of Fandango, Wipeout and Cub Cars rides, and Monkey Madness game.

“Everything about Tumbling Timbers just fits,” said Brian Knoebel, fourth generation co-owner of Knoebels. “Yes, it perfectly fits in the available space, but it’s also a great addition to the ride lineup in that area. The woodland theming ties in with the groves found throughout the park, and the history of the property as a sawmill.”

In addition to the all-new ride, 2019 Knoebels visitors will find a new version of a ride that has been at the park since 2001.

“A Facebook announcement of Downdraft’s departure made it evident many guests just weren’t ready to say goodbye to the ride,” said Ososkie. “It’s safe to say we weren’t either. We’re excited to announce that another generation of guests will be able to enjoy the thrill of swooping 40 feet in the air on a shiny, new Downdraft.”

In addition to its rides, Knoebels continues to expand upon its award-winning food offerings. A few of this year’s additions include gourmet grilled cheese, a fried chicken waffle sandwich, fresh fried broccoli and cauliflower, a new potato cake stand on the midway and a chocolate “Kozmo Pop,” which will be sold at Stony Gables fudge shop.
