SHAMOKIN — Woody’s Pizzeria, a new business located at the corner of Ninth and Independence streets, will be offering its customers Old Forge-style pizza according to co-owner Jay Wright.
The city of Old Forge, located near Scranton, is famous for its many family-owned, flavorful pizza cafes. Wright said that the goal of the Shamokin business is to offer pizza lovers a uniquely similar product here in our area. He said that Woody’s plans to sell pizza by the slice or in pies and will have a number of hoagies on the menu as well.
“I’ve tried many different pizzas over the years and have always liked the taste of Old Forge-style pizza, which we don’t have around here. We have our own unique recipe,” said Wright.
The inside of Woody’s also contains a large number of nostalgic photographs and memorabilia of Shamokin and the coal region.
Woody’s is set to open its doors to the public at 4 p.m. Thursday. They will offer take-out only. Business hours will start off from 4 to 10 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
