16-foot advertisement sign donated to original artist

SHAMOKIN — A 16-foot advertisement sign that fronted East Independence Street for nearly three decades was donated Friday to the original artist.

Forrest and Amanda Curran, owners of Ale House Bar & Grill, 147 E. Independence St., just finished primary demolition of the the former Nature’s Health Foods store, located a few doors west on the corner of Independence and Orange streets. The hand-painted advertisement sign, placed on two, 8-foot panels, was one of the items they salvaged as they continue to convert the property into off-street parking.
