COAL TOWNSHIP — Like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, boulders the size of passenger vehicles are being placed in a section of Coal and Zerbe townships as part of a $9.7 million reclamation project that is expected to draw off-road enthusiasts from across the country.

Since August 2019, Morgan Excavating Inc. has been using material from a decades-old slag pile just north of the Whaleback to reclaim 88 acres of property owned by various entities, including the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA).
