SHAMOKIN — Eight local students gathered Wednesday evening in the former Trinity Episcopal Church on East Liberty Street as part of a new group that seeks to involve youth in the mission of bringing positives to the community.

Future Leaders and Achievers of Greater Shamokin (FLAGS) formed through the partnership of a local Future Business Leaders of America group and city revitalization groups to combat a common question asked by many youth in the area — “What’s there to do in Shamokin?”
