COAL TOWNSHIP — A new grocery store in Coal Township will be opening at the end of the month.

According to a press release from Aldi, the German supermarket chain will be opening its newest location the morning of Thursday, June 27.

The store, which is located next to the Plaza at Coal Township and across Route 61 from Walmart, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Golden Ticket giveaway, which offers gift cards to the first 100 customers. Shoppers can also sample Aldi-exclusive brand foods and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of Aldi produce.

“ALDI offers food that people love at prices they can afford; it’s as simple as that. No matter your preferences or your lifestyle, ALDI has options for everyone, including even more fresh and convenient choices,” said Bob Grammer, Center Valley division vice president.

The store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The grand opening is part of a larger, $3.4 billion investment to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022, the press release states.
