SUNBURY — Two Shamokin men charged in connection with a spree of bank robberies in late 2016 and early 2017 were sentenced to state prison time this morning in Northumberland County Court.

President Judge Charles Saylor sentenced Darren Miller, 33, to 4 to 10 years on charges involving robberies at BB&T Bank, Kulpmont, and Riverview Bank, Trevorton.

Miller apologized to the court for his actions.

His attorney, Brian Umler, of Lewisburg, asked for a concurrent sentence involving the two separate sets of robbery charges, but Saylor made the sentences consecutive, resulting in the 4 to 10 years.

Richard Snyder, 28, was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 12 years on charges involving robberies at Santander Bank, Elysburg; BB&T, Kulpmont; and Riverview Bank, Trevorton.

Miller and Snyder, who had each pleaded guilty earlier, were each given credit for approximately 600 days already spent in prison. Snyder remains in the Northumberland County Division of SCI-Coal Township and Miller in Snyder County Prison.
