HALIFAX TOWNSHIP — A 26-year-old Carlisle woman died after suffering injuries Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash along Route 225 south of Roadcap Lane in this Dauphin County township.
State police at Lykens reported Makelle Brianne Mummart was transported by Life Lion helicopter to Hershey Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries while in surgery.
Police said Mummart was driving a gray 2013 Hyundai north shortly after 8 a.m., when for an unknown reason, her car crossed the double yellow line and entered the southbound lane, where it struck a black 2018 Kia head-on operated by Shannon M. Schreffler, 46, of Elizabethville.
Schreffler suffered injuries and was transported by Halifax Ambulance to Hershey Medical Center.
Police said both vehicles sustained major damage and came to rest blocking the highway for approximately one hour. The Hyundai and Kia were towed from the scene by Kiner’s Auto Salon.
Police said Mummart and Schreffler were both wearing seat belts.
